Healey by Caton as a restomod with 188 hp four-cylinder!

The new British coachbuilder Cato from Coventry currently has the Healey by Caton presented. And it also shows where Caton's journey should go. And in the direction Restomods! In other words, you want to improve classics using modern production techniques and equipment. And the Austin Healey 100 is the first example based on an original vehicle! It will celebrate its world premiere at the Salon Privé in London from April 21st to 23rd. It convinces with a basic design that is still there, but has more visual dynamics to offer in the details. And like Donald Healey back then, Caton also relies on the smaller one four cylinders from the Austin-Healey 100 BN1 instead of the six-pointer from the BN4. Caton installs a new one radiator grill with handmade slats and the factory ones bumpers have disappeared. The front part works in combination with the dark ones LED headlights including daytime running lights much more modern. Also one has all visible beads and seams removed from the original body and also hand-made fender installed with shell-like indentation around the air outlet. And there's now a frameless short Windshield including triangular windows on the door parapets.

72-spoke Borrani rims

  • modernized chassis with double wishbones, coil springs at the front, leaf-sprung rear axle, new stabilizers
  • Brake system with four-piston calipers and internally ventilated discs at the front, three-piston calipers and discs at the rear

The way food is bonnet and the rear have been modified and made more voluminous. And that according to old craftsmanship on an "English bike". And the clean one Hatchback now has internal trunk hinges, gas pressure shock absorbers and no more opener. Then there are the small, round ones tail lights Spotlights now with LED technology. The entire body is also complex restauriert, has reduced gap dimensions and is new painted in the in-house paint shop. Incidentally, the original logos were not removed, but they now have to share the space on the body with those of Caton. Incidentally, we find the 15-inch, 72-spokes to be extremely successful Borrani rims with 185/70 Michelin tires in the wheelhouses. And inside? A lot has happened there too. For example, a new AP Racing was installed pedal box and in combination with a modified rear area without hood there is now more space for tall people. High-quality materials such as shrink-optimized are also used Manager on the dashboard and natural leather by Bridge of Weir on the Seats. And because now instead of the old three-speed gearbox, a modern one Five-speed transmission is installed, you could use the Transmission tunnel form narrower and therefore a new one Center armrest with integrated storage compartment. Also the Doors have small storage compartments.

Limited to just 25 vehicles

And unlike many other companies of this type, Carton ships not make or break an infotainment system in the vehicle. Just two USB sockets under the center armrest for charging various devices are included. There isn't even a heater. In return, there is enough power for a lot of driving fun. However without technical helpers such as traction or stability control and ABS. There is a bigger one for that Bremsanlage installed. Under the hood sits a 2,9 liter large four cylinders with an output of 188 PS and a maximum torque of 264 Newton meters. It is even based on an original Healey engine (2,7 liters) and has been completely redesigned by Carton. There was about Twin H8 carburetors, a racing camshaft with more aggressive cams, one Sports exhaust system, highly compressed Piston, a full steel crankshaftNew roller rocker and improved bearings. The work will be carried out at Healey specialists JME Healeys in Warwick. The result is a top speed of over 100 mph (over 160 km/h). You can see that Instruments in the original look with modern technology. By the way, the fun should cost money according to rumours around 480.000 euros per vehicle.
