Update: Himalaya Defender Restomod with V8 engine!

In 2018 Land Rover announced a limited high-performance version of the legendary Defender as Defender Works V8 at. Up to 150 V8-powered vehicles were built to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Defender production. However, the Defender Works V8 was only built for the British market and is a tribute to the early high-performance engines in the Series III Stage 1 V8 from 1979 and the 50th Anniversary Edition. Vehicles that are nowadays traded by enthusiasts and collectors at horrendous prices. And inspired by the 70th anniversary edition of Land Rover, the HIMALAYA team has now stuffed a 525 hp GM LS3 engine with 6L80E automatic sports transmission into a Defender.

Himalayan 70th clone

The result is the so-called "70th Clone" in bright red, with black accents and a removable soft top. A vehicle that has been completely restored and causes a sensation with ultra-modern details such as new headlights or the 18-inch BFGoodrich A / T KO2 slippers. There are only a few changes in appearance, but the difference to the series is particularly clear in the cabin. Here Himalaya relies on a two-tone leather interior with Recaro sports seats, there was a Momo sports steering wheel and countless small details such as aluminum door handles or the brand new sound unit with Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and even an HDMI connection. But the mentioned over 500 PS strong V8 under the hood should, as already mentioned, be the absolute highlight and drive the Defender forward with vehement power.

It makes itself felt acoustically by means of a Magnaflow sports exhaust system and, in combination with a completely new chassis with Fox dampers, ensures a driving experience that is in no way reminiscent of an aging Defender. An incredible vehicle that still exudes a lot of understatement, but offers performance on par with a sports car on request. If we receive timely information on further changes to the 70th Clone Defender from the tuner Himalaya, there is of course an update for this report.
