In Australia, the clocks are known to be a little different. Holden and Ford are still the clear number 1 when it comes to Tuning even if they no longer produce there and Toyota has climbed to the top of the Australian registration statistics. But many old Holden and Ford models, which often too Restomods are remodeled, testify to the Australian tuning culture, which strongly favors these two brands. But old Holden models are not only tuned down under; there are also clever screwdrivers in Indonesia who use a Holden EJ Special Station Wagon from the 1960s Toyota 2JZ engine transplant to realize a very special project. We would now like to introduce this to you in more detail.

Holden EJ Special Station Wagon with patina.

In contrast to other restomods, this car was made outwardly no great importance was attached to that it shines as if it was new, because it wears with pride and dignity Patina. One could also from one Ratlook project speak, because the exterior already shows clear traces of rust, which, however, testify to the mature age of the car. It remains to be seen whether the tuners will let the project age gracefully with patina, or whether they will decide to repaint the entire body in the next step, overhaul it and completely cover the car restore.

The first were ever new wheel arches pulled, Und SSR / Watanabe RS8s rims raised, which give the patina project a significantly sportier look. Otherwise, the project is probably far from finished, unless it stays with the advice look, which we appreciate, because everything does not always have to be polished to a high gloss in order to look cool and to be well received in the tuning scene. Show and shine is not always the first motto when it comes to successful tuning projects.

In the interior everything is standard so far.

The interior in particular shows that it has been around for many years. The door panels completely missing, and the cockpit also shows clear signs of wear and a good amount of patina. In contrast to the Three-spoke wooden steering wheelwhich looks like it was installed recently. We usually know such steering wheels from various US American high-gloss restomod projects. Of the Headlining is completely missingbut the fabric seats are in good condition and look like they were recently reupholstered. There is still a lot of work going on in the interior if you want to polish it to a high gloss, but you may want to keep it that way to maintain an authentic look.

2JZ motor provides plenty of power.

The original 2,3-liter in-line six-cylinder from the EJ had to be one 2JZ Toyota in-line six-cylinder give way to that too no turbocharger but acts as a suction motor under the hood. The performance has already been tripled compared to the series without any modifications to the Toyota engine, but you have to wait and see what the resourceful tuners from Indonesia will come up with to make the Holden a very special project. Maybe a will come Turbo kit used to tickle even more power from the engine.
