Take a look at the motorhome market and you will find some trends. Recreational vehicles are becoming smaller, more versatile and affordable, or they are growing like that Devel 6 × 6 or the almost discreet LM-EXTV based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter to extreme intercity vehicles ready for an impending end-of-the-world scenario that we all do not suspect. Of the Hunter RMV Predator 6.6 belongs to the latter category of those trends, as if its name didn't already betray its gross and harsh intentions. At first glance, the Predator 6.6 looks like a camper that has been mounted on the chassis of an off-road vehicle. It really is. The motorhome is being converted by Light Medium Tactical Vehicles (LMTVs), which are used by the military to transport soldiers and cargo over unpaved terrain around the world.
It's a military vehicle that has been converted into a cute looking house on wheels. Inside, the Predator 6.6 offers all the luxury you would expect from a modern motorhome - beds, dining area, kitchen, shower and toilet. The camper version makes the already large vehicle even more massive. The Predator is a proud 8,4 meters long, a little over four meters high and has a ground clearance of 56 centimeters. While the vehicle looks like a tiny house from the rear, from the side it looks like it came straight from the army boot camp. There are three seats, with the middle passenger sitting high on a hump that looks like a transmission tunnel.
Everything else about the cabin looks very handy - black lines, easy-to-use controls, and not much else. The Predator is powered by a 6,6 liter Caterpillar six cylinder turbo diesel engine. The power, which is not specified by the manufacturer, is delivered to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission. The basic model has a top speed of 93 km / h and a range of over 630 kilometers. However, you can upgrade it to 112 km / h and a range of close to 1.300 kilometers. Other upgrades include a winch, an additional water tank and the self-sufficient power supply via solar modules.
The Hunter RMV Predator 6.6 is massive and ready to overshadow any other off-road motorhome. It seems that the market is expanding from the classic motorhome to simple and inexpensive models on the one hand and such products for an end-of-the-world situation. Prices for the Hunter RMV Predator 6.6 start at $ 197.500, which is just under 170.000 EUR at today's exchange rate - plus VAT.
