Hyundai Elantra N: compact sedan with 290 hp at the push of a button!

Korea is serious! Above the N Line variant of the Elantra series, there is now a real one Sports model. And one with at least 280 and maximum 290 PS. The top model at the K3 platform stands above from N Line derivative with 204 PS & 264 Nm, which is equipped with a 1,6-liter turbo gasoline engine. The Sports version of the 2022 Hyundai Elantra N (is called in Australia, by the way i30N sedan) has a whopping 280 hp from one Two-liter turbo engine to offer. It's the engine from the lifted i30 N (there is that too as a 250 HP variant) and so it is not surprising that the same Eight-speed dual clutch transmission is there. In contrast to its little brother, the Elantra even has one Boost function for 20 seconds. It increases the performance 290 PS via the NGS button on the sports steering wheel.

Hyundai Elantra N compact sedan!

This is how it works with Launch Control in 5,3 seconds to 100 km / h. Are maximum 250 inside. To do this, Hyundai installs electronic differential, equipped the 19 incher with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S slippers and installs a 360 millimeter sports brake system with red painted calipers. And a premiere in Hyundai vehicles is the "Integrated Driving Axle (IDA)".

As with the WRC racing car, the drive shafts, wheel bearings and hubs are integrated directly into the drive axle. That saves weight and is more stable. In addition, the front axle and the trailing arm bushing have insulation to reduce vibrations and noise to a minimum. That works so well that a virtual equalizer was necessary to by request Bringing engine noises into the cabin in TCR fashion.

N infotainment system also in the Elantra

As with the I30 N, the Elantra dhe infotainment system with specific N functions expanded and also an oil pressure, temperature, boost pressure, lap timer and a track map display are included. The sporty look is complemented by the inside Alcantara sports seats with integrated headrests. And outside? There are new ones Side skirts with N logo, a rear spoiler and rear apron with diffuser insert including exhaust pipe on the right and left the difference. In addition there is the red Astripes on the front spoiler lip as on the other N models. Unfortunately, the sporty compact sedan only offered in Korea and the US market. We don't have any of this in Europe.

Don't worry, of course that was far from being the case when it came to auto / auto tuning. Our magazine still has tens of thousands other tuning reports in stock. Do you want to see them all?
