Hyundai gives a first look at the IONIQ 5 N!

The Hyundai Motor Company today released a video about the two concept vehicles RN22e and N Vision 74 (The RN22e and N Vision 74 are vehicle studies that are not intended for sale) and thus gives an outlook on the electrification of the N sub-brand also the IONIQ 5 N (The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N is not yet for sale. The homologation and the determination of the fuel consumption of the German national version will take place immediately before the market launch) - camouflaged as a prototype with a sample film of pixels and checkered flags.

The video offers an insight into the development process of the "rolling laboratories" of the N sub-brand. The two concept cars will be used for research and development purposes, testing high-performance technologies developed by Hyundai's Motorsport department before incorporating them into the brand's future production models. After the RM series ("Racing Midship"), the N sub-brand presented the next generation of its concept vehicles last summer, which are used to explore the potential of zero-emission drives in high-performance vehicles.

The RN22e is the first high-performance concept from the N sub-brand to be based on Hyundai's E-GMP ("Electric-Global Modular Platform"), which also forms the basis for the IONIQ 5 and the new IONIQ 6. The video illustrates how the RN22e that combines E-GMP and other advanced technologies to remain true to the three maxims of the Hyundai N models: curve robbers, racetrack suitability and everyday suitability. The RN22e will test and verify innovative technologies to be incorporated into the first battery-electric N model in the near future.

The NVision 74 is a rolling high-performance laboratory that symbolizes Hyundai Sub-Brand N's vision for future N models. The fuel cell drive with an output of over 500 kW comes from the first N concept vehicle - the Hyundai N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo (The N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo is a vehicle study that is not intended for sale), which was presented at the presentation of the Sub-brand was unveiled in 2015. The drive benefits from another seven years of research and development work. In addition, the design of the N Vision 74 is unmistakably based on the Hyundai Pony Coupé Concept presented in 1974, thus combining Hyundai heritage with the electric future of the N high-performance models.

The video also includes driving footage of the new IONIQ 5 N for the first time, wrapped in an N-specific camouflage film with a pattern of pixels and checkered flags, providing a taste of the electric driving fun of the N high-performance models. At its debut, the IONIQ 5 N can be seen side by side with the RN22e and the N Vision 74 for about three seconds.

The Hyundai N sub-brand is one of the fastest developing high-performance brands in the world. We are on the right track with our plans to implement them in line with our electrification vision. The success story of the 'rolling laboratories', which the RN22e clearly illustrates, is the perfect prelude to the first battery-electric N series model, the IONIQ 5 N, which will soon be on the market.
