Hyundai has something to celebrate! Namely the opening of the new customer center 'Hyundai Motor Studio Busan'in South Korea. And the in-house design team built a cool one especially for the occasion Restomod as a single piece. Based on the very first Hyundai Pony, which was presented to the world public at the Turin Motor Show in 1974. With the practical compact vehicle, the Koreans started automotive engineering in the early 1970s. At the time, the pony was designed by six British Leyland executives whom Hyundai had recruited specifically for it. The team created the Gen.1 pony with technical parts from the Ford Cortina and parts from Mitsubishi and hid everything under a design from Italdesign Giugiaro.

And now the classic with the simple edges and surfaces in the style of the 70s is coming back under the direction of interior design chief Hak Soo Ha. But only once! The basis for the conversion is of course an original Hyundai pony, which is first and foremost extensive restauriert and thus restored to the condition of a new car. Then the engineers installed four modern ones LED headlights, electric exterior mirrors, LED indicators in the front apron and also the tail lights are with LED technology equipped.

In combination with a new one Center console and send door inserts The Hyundai designers managed the balancing act between the 1970s and the present perfectly. And of course, the pony is also contemporary Electric drive fired. However, there are no further details. But we're guessing on components from the new Hyundai Ioniq 5. A series production of the pony as Pony Heritage is, as already mentioned, unfortunately not planned. It's actually a shame, because we're pretty sure that the one-off will generate a lot of interest. If we get more information about the changes, there will of course be an update for this report.
