Now it has also caught the Fiat 500! Tuners like Zelectric Motors or Charge Automotive have long recognized that the conversion of historic vehicles to electric drive is becoming increasingly popular. And also the Italian tuner Garage Italia Customs wants a piece of the cake off and has dedicated himself to the Fiat 500 (Nuova) and him in the style of the Ghia convertible conversion Fiat 500 Jolly makeover. In the 60-70 years, the car without a roof was a popular toy of the upper ten thousand and now comes the car as "Icon-e" with an electric motor developed in cooperation with the Newtron Group. The factory two-cylinder petrol engine with around 20 PS flew out and was replaced by an electric motor. Although there Garage Italia We do not know any specific engine data yet, but we believe that the performance is easy and that of the series engine is located. And as far as known, the engine was even flanged to the factory gearbox and probably it has remained synonymous with the non-synchronized rear-wheel drive.

The battery of the electric motor is charged with an elegantly hidden type 2 socket behind the front Fiat logo. To reach the full range of approx. 120 km, depending on the load variant, it takes 4 to 8 hours. Optically, the "Icon-e" Fiat 500 also changed a lot. In fantastically restored condition, there were white support and step bars front and back (Remember the railing of a ship), LED headlamps in the original fixtures and brand-new whitewalls from the Vintage Line by Michelin in the style of the popular ancestor. On the other hand, the changes under the metal sheet are invisible where Garage Italia has pulled in a safety cell and, in combination with a windscreen with a modified structure, provides more stability. And that is necessary because the highlight of the transformation to the Jolly Icon-e is of course the fact that both the roof and the two doors have disappeared and the 500er therefore needed more stability.

And it looks different in the cabin too. The spartan and “strapless” seats are made of hand-woven natural rope and now sit in place of the factory wicker armchairs. The way to the street is only blocked by a narrow ship traffic jam and so you are probably only as safe in the Icon-E as in a golf cart. The analog speedometer has been replaced by a five-inch digital instrument, including graphics developed in-house, and provides all the necessary information on the speed or the charge status of the battery. In addition, some pictures show a gear lever with a turtle and a rabbit symbol, which in our opinion rather indicates that the alleged factory 4-speed gearbox with center shift may have been replaced by a 2-speed automatic. Incidentally, according to Garage Italia, the presented Fiat 500 Jolly Icon-e is only the beginning of a whole range of vehicles that are to appear in the future. If we receive information about the battery strength or the price of the vehicle in a timely manner, there is of course an update for this report.
