Restomod 1969 Toyota Land Cuiser FJ40 by Team of Icon!

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 is a legendary SUV that was built from 1960 to 1984. It is known for its robustness, reliability and versatility. But what happens when you equip an old FJ40 with modern technology and high-quality materials? The result is a 4 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ4 (FJ1969) converted by ICON40x4059177 (Icon) as a restomod, which impresses both visually and in terms of driving dynamics. ICON4x4 is a California company specializing in the restoration and modification of classic off-road vehicles. The Toyota Land Cruisers from the J4 series, which ICON4x4 transforms into hand-built new cars, are particularly popular. Usually only the frame number and the type plate remain from the donor vehicles. The rest will be completely rebuilt, with an aluminum body, powder-coated paintwork, powerful engines, modern chassis and many other extras.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

One of ICON4x4's projects is the FJ40 #116, which was completed in 2017. It has two doors, a black soft top and half doors. The color is called Rocky Mountain Gray and is the first that ICON4x4 used for its FJ restomods. The interior is extensively upholstered in black leather and Chilewich fabric, and the front seats are heated and have three-point seat belts. The back seat is also completely removable. The steering wheel comes from Ididit and can be adjusted in inclination. A reversing camera and front and rear parking sensors ensure greater safety. The highlight is of course at the front, under the hood.

There is a 5.7-liter Vortec V8 from General Motors that, according to our information, produces around 350 hp. It is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission and a twin-stick transfer case with all-wheel drive. The axles are from Dynatrac and are equipped with ARB Air Lockers, which can activate the differential locks at the push of a button. The ICON Sport Suspension Package includes Fox Racing shock absorbers and an adjustable anti-roll bar. The brakes come from Brembo and have befitting discs behind all four wheels. The exhaust system is ceramic-coated and gives the V8 a matching sound.

18 inch forged aluminum wheels

Next up are the rims. The wheels are 18-inch forged aluminum rims with BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires and the Powertank Auxiliary Air System even makes it possible to inflate the knobbly off-road tires or supply other equipment with compressed air. A warning cable winch at the front including a metal apron with bracket can also help in difficult situations and an LED light bar on the roof provides better visibility in the dark. The AMP Research Side Step also makes it easier to get into the high car.

The 4 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ4 Restomod converted by ICON1969x40 is a dream car for off-road fans who want to combine classic design with modern technology. It combines the best of two worlds: the robustness and charm of the original with the comfort and performance of a new car. However, it is no bargain: The price is around €200.000.
