Would you like something more radical? No problem! A few days ago the guys from M Defense sent their first troop vehicle based on the Chevrolet Colorado to the US Army as an Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV for short). The off-roader is derived from a pickup and is able to bring a maximum of nine soldiers including equipment through an all-terrain environment. For the time being, exactly 649 of these ISVs will be built as part of a military contract. Total value? A handsome $ 214,3 million! And if necessary, production can even be increased to 8 vehicles over the next 2.065 years. A good 90 percent of the ISV is made up of standard parts, including components from the Colorado ZR2 and racing components from Chevrolet Performance. But unlike the Colorado, the ISV is not a pickup. Instead, the area of the loading area was expanded with additional seats.

Roll bar to protect the occupants

There is also an extensive network of roll bars to protect the occupants. The off-roader is powered by a 2,8 liter Duramax four-cylinder turbo diesel with around 200 hp and 500 Newton meters of torque. Unfortunately, exact details are not yet known. But we know that a six-speed automatic plus two-speed transfer case are installed and the four-wheel drive has electronic limited slip differentials on both axles. With a special desert racing suspension with Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSV) dampers and shock absorbers, with particularly long-stroke rear leaf springs and special upper wishbones with a large angle, there should be no stopping off-road.

Underrun protection sliding plates on the underbody

The ISV also has a large number of underrun protection sliding plates to protect the mechanical components and the defensive measures are underlined with additional protective devices for the transfer case, the fuel tank, the engine oil pan, the rear differential and the rear shock absorber attachment. And despite the sometimes very massive protective components, according to the manufacturer, the ISV should be light enough to be thrown from a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter. And it's even compact enough to fit in a CH-47 Chinook for air transport. If we get more information about the changes, there is of course an update for this report.
