INVICTO LUXURY

brabus | automotive, a company of the BRABUS GROUP, is one of the world's most competent service providers for the automotive industry in the development and production of small series. Standstill means going backwards and so the design and engineering team is constantly working on new concepts that are developed to series production and then manufactured in small series in state-of-the-art plants at the Bottrop location. The latest development of the engineering company are special protection vehicles with high-tech armor. With the UNBEATEN will be in the brabus | automotive plant in Bottrop produced in small series an armored version of the current Mercedes G 500 and G 63 models.

PURE, LUXURY and MISSION

All three INVICTO models have in common the innovative special protection package, which was specially developed for the body of the Mercedes G-Class. The armor complies with the VR6 Plus ERV standard, according to which many limousines are protected by heads of state. This means that the vehicle not only resists shelling with 7,62 x 39 caliber ammunition, which corresponds, for example, to the cartridges of the AK-47, but also its occupants against attacks with hand grenades and loads of up to 12,5 kg PETN or 15 kilograms of TNT explosives protects.

To ensure this security, not only the doors and the tailgate are upgraded with newly developed protective elements. You get a highly resistant armored glazing just like the windshield. To fit them into the body of the G-Class, the engineers developed an innovative structure for the upper windshield frame, such as Christian Draser, the CEO of brabus | automotive, explains: "This is the first time that protective elements have been used that are manufactured using additive manufacturing processes using a 3D printer."

The innovative protective cell for the interior, the "INVICTO Shelter Cell", is just as important for the effectiveness of this security system. It was designed for the best possible protection and has numerous revolutionary features: In contrast to other subsequently armored vehicles, the individual elements of this protection system are not individually welded into the body structure of the vehicle. The brabus | automotive engineers developed the protective cell as a self-contained, self-supporting and screwed unit. Thanks to this design, it can be inserted part by part into the body shell of the G-Class and then assembled and fixed. Exactly fitting, thermoformed armored steel elements and other protective elements were made from materials such as carefully selected fabric and fiber structures as well as ceramic and metallic composite materials.

The numerous design features of the "INVICTO Shelter Cell" include not only the fact that, in contrast to no narrowing of the door openings, there is elementary importance for many owners of the G-Model because of the comfortable entry and exit. The protective cell is constructed in a zero-joint design, and the individual parts of the armor are assembled without any gaps, which is elementary for maximum safety in the event of a fire or an explosive attack. This is achieved through material overlap and so-called labyrinths.

various options from the range of accessories

The excellent protective effect of the INVICTO based on the Mercedes G-Class was proven in extensive test series: In the Beschussamt Ulm, the state testing and certification body for weapon and security technology in Germany, extensive shelling was carried out in accordance with the guidelines VPAM BRV 2009 and VPAM ERV 2010. and explosive tests were carried out on the armored vehicle. This included shelling the body and glazing with a total of 437 rounds of the 7,62 x 39 caliber as well as blasting with hand grenades and a 12,5 kg PETN explosive device. All tests were successfully completed and the INVICTO is certified in accordance with the guidelines VPAM BRV 2009 for bullet resistance and VPAM ERV 2010 for explosion resistance.

Despite the excellent protective effect of this concept, the additional weight of the entire vehicle due to the armor is comparatively low at around 1 kilograms. Of course, the suspension was redesigned by the BRABUS suspension engineers for maximum safety, agile driving dynamics and durability. For example, the complete wheel suspension on the front and rear axles was replaced by special components adapted to the higher vehicle weight. In addition, reinforcements were made in the area of the side members on the vehicle frame. In addition, the domes on the body, which accommodate the struts, were reinforced.

Zero joint design

In order to validate the function and strength of the INVICTO chassis modifications, extensive endurance and driving tests were carried out. This verified the safety and fatigue strength of BRABUS wheel suspensions in accordance with OEM standards. Another new design is the reinforced shock absorbers, springs and stabilizers, which are also adapted to the higher vehicle weight. The front suspension struts and the rear shock absorbers of the active chassis now have a tube diameter that is ten millimeters larger and have been readjusted to match the weight. A further contribution to the outstanding active safety of the INVICTO is made with a high-performance brake system with internally ventilated 402 millimeter discs and six-piston calipers at the front, and 380 millimeter discs and four-piston calipers on the rear axle.

The newly developed INVICTO 9.5Jx20 wheels have the significantly higher payload required by the armor and are also equipped with heavy duty tires of size 275/50 R 20 W 113 Extra Load designed for this weight. In order to be able to continue driving or fleeing even after a tire damage, such as after a bombardment, these wheels are equipped with a special brabus | automotive developed emergency running system. This means that even with destroyed tires, you can still drive 50 kilometers at speeds of up to 50 km / h.

INVICTO LUXURY

The BRABUS INVICTO LUXURY is the most exclusive model of this new series and offers an outstanding combination of excellent protection and agile performance. The basis is either the Mercedes G 500 or the Mercedes-AMG G 63 with 430 kW / 585 hp 4.0 liter eight-cylinder biturbo. With a maximum torque of 850 Nm, this engine offers excellent active safety thanks to dynamic acceleration, despite the high vehicle weight of around 3,8 tons. The top speed is electronically limited to 20 km / h due to the 210 inch special tires with emergency running properties.

The BRABUS INVICTO LUXURY top-of-the-line version also includes the exclusive BRABUS WIDESTAR wide version, which can be equipped with visible carbon components in a sporty design if requested by the customer. The interior is finished with a BRABUS fine leather interior in the finest leather and Alcantara according to the individual color and design wishes of the owner.

For a surcharge, the off-road special protection vehicle BRABUS INVICTO LUXURY can also be upgraded with various performance upgrades up to the BRABUS 800 engine with 588 kW / 800 PS at 6 rpm and a maximum torque of 600 Nm with only 1 tours.

INVICTO PURE

The PURE is the understatement model of the INVICTO. From the outside it is indistinguishable from the production car and thus offers protection in its purest form. The special protection concept according to VR6 Plus ERV standard is identical for all INVICTO variants. In contrast to the LUXURY, not only the leather interior, but also the body remains optically standard. The only visual distinguishing feature are the discreet 20 inch INVICTO wheels with emergency run special tires. This makes the INVICTO PURE "under cover" in two ways.

INVICTO MISSION

The INVICTO MISSION is tailored to the requirements of the military, police, emergency services, special forces and security companies. This special protection vehicle is also based on the Mercedes G 500 or G 63. However, the equipment takes numerous application-specific requirements into account. This includes not only the 20-inch off-road tires with emergency running properties or a winch on the front: A particularly powerful LED headlight unit on the front of the robust roof rack, signal lights behind the windscreen and remote-controlled searchlights at the rear are just as much a part of the INVICTO MISSION as one armored exit hatch on the roof.

The interior is equipped with four special individual seats that allow emergency personnel to wear their protective vests while driving. Five-point seat belts keep the occupants safely on their seats, even when driving through rough terrain, which are more contoured than the standard seats and thus offer significantly more lateral support.

The special equipment of the INVICTO MISSION also includes a fresh air system including an ABC filter for the interior, an infrared package with night vision device and an extensive monitoring system for monitoring and navigation. The door panels and backrest shells of the seats are equipped with the "MOLLE" system according to the military standard, which is used to securely fasten items of equipment to the occupants. The INVICTO special protection vehicles according to VR6 Plus ERV standard are manufactured in small series in Bottrop in the brabus | plant automotive manufactured. Individual wishes of the customer can of course be fulfilled, provided that they do not impair the protective effect and driving safety
