Not brand new but still an absolute eye-catcher! Already last year, the guys from 6LE Designs LLC brought the IROC-Z to the SEMA Auto Show. And also this year the extreme Camaro comes back to Las Vegas. Reason enough for us to look at the muscle car from Mark DeLisle (Owner of 6LE Designs) take a closer look. The modern interpretation of the IROC-Z should of course be reminiscent of the original IROC-Z introduced in 1985. At the time, it was named after the popular “International Race of Champions” racing series and came with an improved chassis, cool decorative stripes and the Corvette engine's tuned port injection. In addition, “the old” had 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels with 245 / 50ZR16 tires and at least 215 hp (218 DIN hp).
an "original" IROC-Z Camaro
Various upgrades into the year 1990 brought the IROC-Z thanks to 5,7-liter TPI engine up to maximum 240 PS. After that was over because Chevrolet had not renewed the contract with the IROC racing series. That to ... Now to the present as IROC-Z by GLE. Mark quickly secured the IROC-Z trademark that IROC had "forgotten" to register. He can now officially use this label and so here is a REAL IROC-Z Camaro. The basis is a 1th generation 6SS Camaro. He got a huge bonnet with a huge power dome that is a bit like the third generation of the Camaro. And of course it's not just a show.
the rims are from own production
After all, the Whipple LT1 engine brings considerable 700 horsepower to the rear wheels. The rest of the front is extremely close to the ZL1 1LE and is underlined with some small details. The other bodywork has been rebuilt to Widebody project and here you have the expertise of ASD Concepts taken to help. Another highlight is definitely the forged multi-part IROC-Z drop center rim that Mark designed with the “Factory Reproductions” team. It gives a glimpse of a completely new 6-piston brake system (Rear 4 piston) by Wilwood free thanks to huge two-piece sports brake discs for species-appropriate delay ensures. Thank you Renick performance Coilover suspension is the IROC-Z just above the road and transforms the power adequately in propulsion.
Racing inside and out
Further highlights of the vehicle are a roof made entirely of glass (by reverse Mohawk design), a three-piece rear spoiler, the aggressive diffuser and of course an individual interior with lots of attention to detail and racing flair. More details are currently not available for the IROC-Z, but we assume that at the latest after the 2018 SEMA car show even more information at the start. As soon as this happens, there is, of course, an update to this report as usual. It is best to subscribe to our feed and if there is something new you will get in touch immediately. We wish you a lot of fun watching the pictures.
