Finally with steam: Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Concept!

The plan seems to be in place! Manufacturer Jeep has announced a variant of the Wrangler with a 6,4-liter Hemi V8, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Concept called, but appears difficult to get close to series. He would be the first V8 engine Wrangler since the 80s. A teaser picture from the weekend showed a dark photo with a wrangler or gladiator with bonnet with a powerful air scoop and 392 lettering attached to it. And shortly afterwards there was also the car for the teaser. It was a wrangler, the one Rubicon as 392 Concept. And with a 6,4 liter (392 Cubic Inches) V8 under the hood and eight-speed automatic transmission. Quasi the official successor of the Jeep CJ with 127 HP and 298 NM from a five-liter V8. In 2020, however, the Hemi engine in the Wrangler Bug will deliver a whopping 456 hp and the highest possible torque of 610 NM. The frame was strengthened and the engine mounts adjusted so that everything lasts.

significantly higher chassis

For this purpose, a lift of a good 5 centimeters is planned. This is achieved using a different chassis with aluminum shock absorbers from Fox and special Dana 44 axles for the best possible entanglement in the field. In addition, the well-known all-wheel drive with two-speed transfer case and electrical locks on the front and rear axles in combination with robust 17-inch beadlock rims including off-road tires. By the way, Jeep maintains the necessary distance from the Grand Cherokee SRT and the Dodge Durango SRT, which each produce 482 hp and 637 NM. Compared to the current variants with two-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline (274 PS / 400 NM), 3,6-liter Pentastar V6 (289 PS / 353 NM) and the new three-liter V6 turbo diesel (264 PS / 599 NM) the V8 a surprise, of course. And it is definitely more impressive than the also announced plug-in hybrid version as 4xe with approx. 240 PS. The Rubicon 392 Concept should accelerate from 5 to 0 mph (60 km / h) in under 96,6 seconds. Visually there are steel bumpers on the V8 Wrangler, sill panels from the regular Rubicon and a winch of the brand Warn seems planned.

Painting in granite crystal

The photo vehicle is painted in "granite crystal" and has bronze-colored badges, springs, tow hooks, shock absorbers and rims. The body also has half doors with a low window line and removable side panels like we already have in a similar version LINE-X gladiator have seen. Not quite as radical, but still pretty cool. The interior convinces with a large folding roof and the photo vehicle has a red leather interior, golden stitching and a performance sports steering wheel. Now one can only hope that the concept study will actually become a production car.
