JUBU Performance Supercar based on the Lotus Exige!

The first Lotus Exige was presented 20 years ago and, thanks to its lightweight construction, is still considered one of the most agile sports cars in the world. Two decades later, an Austrian Lotus tuner decided to take the lightweight construction concept to the top and develop its own racing car based on the Exige chassis. The result is a full carbon monster whose radical lightweight construction would have been entirely in the spirit of Lotus founder Colin Chapman. Martin Jung from JUBU Performance built exactly the racing car he always wanted: quick, easy to use and easy to maintain. The result: the "JP ZERO", a racing car with a full carbon body and 610 hp at only 960kg - designed to heat the new KTM GTX in the GT2 class. The GT2 racer is just the beginning: the Mühlviertel-based carmaker is currently developing a 740 hp, street-legal supercar based on the racing car - the planned release date for the ZEROstreet is 2022.

to drive like a series car

"We took the very good chassis from Lotus and built a completely new vehicle on it. Pretty much all parts - from the chassis to the frame and body to the steering wheel - were newly developed and built in-house. The spirit of Colin Chapman was always there, who coined the motto: Simplify, then add lightness.“Says Martin Jung about his approach. In addition to the ultra-lightweight construction, the drive train is one of the special features of the JP ZERO. In order to make the transmission suitable for racing, durable and easy to use at the same time, the engineers at JUBU Performance developed a special double clutch system. This offers the short shift times of a sequential transmission, but is far more comfortable and durable than classic racing transmissions. "Our DCT transmission is undoubtedly a key technology of the concept. On the racetrack, it shifts as fast as a sequential gearbox, but it wears far less. This enables us to extend the inspection intervals, which in turn massively reduces the car's operating costs. In addition, at the push of a button a racing gearbox can be transformed into a comfortable automatic gearbox if you don't want to change gear yourself.“, Says Martin Jung.

100 hours without major overhauls on the racetrack

The Austrian engineers underpin the durability of the vehicle and transmission with a confident promise: the ZERO should last 100 hours on the racetrack without a major overhaul. Martin Jung on this: "We designed the car to be on the track, not in the pits. Every owner of a ZERO should be able to arrive, get on and drive on the track - without having to bring a crew of mechanics to the track."

410, 610, 740 hp - power as required

In the bi-turbo variant, the performance can be flexibly adjusted from the cockpit depending on the requirements. Depending on the setting, the engine then delivers between 410 and 610 hp (in ZEROstreet up to 740 PS). The JP ZERO is built in three versions: as ZEROrace, ZEROtrack and ZEROstreet. The ZEROrace is designed as a thoroughbred racing car for the GT2 class, the ZEROtrack comes as a low-maintenance arrive-and-drive tracktool for quick fun on the racetrack. The ZEROstreet is the luxurious supercar variant and comes with a carbon fiber body and street legal. According to the manufacturer, the first vehicles will be delivered as race or track variants in spring 2021, with the road variant to follow in 2022. A total of only 60 copies of the JP ZERO will be built, based on the 20-year Exige anniversary, 20 of each variant. Prices start at 249.000 euros for the ZEROtrack and end at 650.000 euros for the luxurious ZEROstreet.

Martin Jung: "The car feels super analog and pure, is reliable and really fast - just a real driver's car."
