Kia launches “Kia Flex” subscription service

With its "Plan S" strategy presented in 2020, Kia has set itself the goal of transforming itself from a pure car manufacturer into a leading provider of sustainable mobility solutions. Now the company is driving this transformation further and launching the innovative subscription service "Kia Flex" in Germany in December. The new mobility service gives customers quick and convenient access to the Kia product range through an intuitive online shop and offers them maximum flexibility. Depending on their individual mobility needs, they can choose between a 6, 12 or 18 month subscription period and a wide variety of new cars from the wide Kia range, including electric models. The vehicles are delivered and returned by the participating Kia dealers.

Kia Flex subscription service

  • Brand continues transformation from pure car manufacturer to provider of sustainable mobility solutions
  • Subscription service with convenient online booking offers great flexibility and closes the gap between short-term rental and leasing
  • Introduction in Germany including the Kia dealers, other European countries will follow
  • With Kia Flex, Kia is cooperating with the ALD subsidiary Fleetpool, the market leader in the German car subscription market

With the new subscription service, Kia is reacting to changing customer requirements. As consumers shift away from traditional buy-and-own models, subscription services bridge the gap between short-term rental and long-term leasing. In addition to flexibility, the focus of Kia Flex is on the greatest possible comfort and a carefree driving experience. Kia offers the new service in cooperation with Fleetpool. The subsidiary of ALD Automotive SA is the market leader in the German car subscription market and is also one of the leading companies in this area in Europe. Supported by the nationwide Kia dealer network, Fleetpool manages the operative business of the subscription service and provides the IT platform including the corresponding systems. Kia Flex is to be rolled out in other EU countries in the coming year.

“Many drivers are looking for sustainable mobility solutions that they can use flexibly and conveniently. With Kia Flex, we are offering these predominantly younger customers an all-round carefree package that can be booked quickly and easily,” says Thomas Djuren, Managing Director of Kia Germany. “Our extensive dealer network plays a key role in establishing our new subscription service. Working closely with Kia dealers, we will respond to the changing needs of our customers and strengthen our position as a leader in sustainable mobility.” “We are very much looking forward to this collaboration with Kia,” says Fleetpool CEO Gert Schaub . "Building on Fleetpool's leading technology and expertise in the automotive subscription space, through this cooperation Kia and Fleetpool will create the first standardized cross-country car subscription service from an OEM on a European scale."

Kia strategy "Plan S": Pioneering electric vehicles, sustainable mobility services

At the beginning of 2020, Kia set the course for a sustainable realignment of the company and the expansion of the business portfolio with the presentation of the medium- to long-term business strategy "Plan S". Key goals of the strategy include driving the transition to electric vehicles and expanding future mobility services. Kia is one of the pioneers of e-mobility and has been offering vehicles with electric drives in Germany since 2014. The first purely electric model based on the "Plan S" strategy is the Kia EV6*, which became the first vehicle from a Korean brand to be voted Europe's "Car of the Year" in 2022. In Germany, more than a third of all new Kia cars already had a plug in the first half of 2022: Electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles accounted for 33,8 percent of the brand's sales; in the German market as a whole, this share was only 24,7, XNUMX percent (according to KBA).
