Lotus plug-and-play instrument cluster for Track Day

The sports car manufacturer Lotus has recently presented an instrument cluster for track days for retrofitting. For the Elise models and for the Exige V6. The system is supplied with data from over 4.000 race tracks worldwide and can be installed using the plug-and-play process. In concrete terms, that fits digital instrument cluster in the models Elise and Exige from year of construction 2008. Lotus indicates that the software of the instrument module stores information and details on exactly 4.127 racetracks all over the world. So if you are driving your Lotus on a racetrack, the times driven can be measured and compared directly. This gives you extensive information about your own driving skills and possible career as a professional racing driver. The system also has an input for a camera so that a portable action cam can be connected.

with GPS route detection

The built-in GPS module even detects when the vehicle is approaching a racetrack. If this is the case, you can call up the relevant data. The driven lap times, the speeds in certain sections of the route and much more information can be displayed in real time and later downloaded directly to the computer for analysis. However, the instrument cluster also has its price. The 6 inch screen currently costs £ 1.470 in England and the installation costs are added. In this country too, the device is to be sold through appropriate Lotus dealers. If you drive a Lotus, you should of course also occasionally use the vehicle as a tracking tool. Therefore, the retrofit kit with route data will certainly attract interest.
