Caravan Salon 2020: Mercedes Sprinter as La Strada Nova M!

2020 is all about camping due to Corona. And that could well stay that way for the next few years. Reason enough for La Strada Fahrzeugbau GmbH from Echzell to revise the LA STRADA NOVA M. Excellent design characterizes the top range from la strada. The flagship Nova EB received the red dot design award 2020 for its successful exterior design. The new sister model Nova M is also presented in the same dress, but shorter. Here, too, la strada relies on an extremely durable monocoque construction made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic. This enables good insulation, reliable tightness and elegant lines. Fitted awnings, darkened windows and even painted ventilation grilles characterize the elegant structure. The popular layout of the Nova M, however, has hardly changed.

10 centimeters more overall length

However, the living space clearly benefits from the 10 centimeters longer overall length compared to the previous model. The Nova M is based on the Mercedes Sprinter with rear-wheel drive. From all-wheel drive, automatic transmission and numerous assistance systems to 127 upholstery fabrics, partial leather and leather variants, the equipment list of the compact land yacht leaves little to be desired. The new la strada Nova M can be seen for the first time at the Caravan Salon trade fair in Düsseldorf. From September 4th to 13th, la strada is looking forward to interested visitors in hall 15 at stand C 26 and in hall 5 stand A 05. The developers drew clear lines when designing the GRP structure of the new Nova. As few disruptive latches, flaps, handles or hinges as possible should be visible. The clean lines of the exterior design earned the flagship Nova EB the red dot design award 2020. The GRP monocoque cabin of the smaller Nova M, which is 53 centimeters shorter, basically uses the same exterior design. Only the shorter overall length, the shorter wheelbase and the two small windows on the sides of the roof hood distinguish the Nova M.

Floor plan with three beds

The new Nova M has the same layout as its predecessor, with three beds. The drop-down bed above the driver's cab offers space for two people and the usual good sleeping comfort of the Froli disc spring system with dimensions of 2,05 meters by 1,40 meters. The transverse bed in the stern is very practical for an afternoon nap or a guest. Also with the generous length of 2,05 meters with a width of 97 centimeters and the Froli disc spring system. In front of the rear bed there is a closet in which clothes can be folded or put on hangers. The bathroom opposite has a toilet, a standard window and cupboards for hygiene items. If the washbasin is folded up, a spacious shower is created, which is separated by a foldable shower wall made of plastic.

In the middle of the Nova M is the kitchen with the two-burner stove with piezo igniter and sturdy cast-iron pot support. Right next to it is the spacious sink. The additional work surface that can be pulled out from under the wardrobe is very useful. Two large pull-out drawers, a cutlery drawer, an open shelf and two wall cabinets hold the cooking utensils. The ingredients can be stored in an 80-liter refrigerator with automatic energy selection. The L-shaped seating area is right across from the kitchen and the now wider entrance door. The Nova M has four seats secured with three-point belts for driving. Two places on the bench are secured with three-point belts. The window seat also has an Isofix attachment for child seats with top tether. The SKA comfort seats with pneumatic lumbar support and seat heating are equally comfortable when driving and living. Seat air conditioning is even available for full leather trim.

Push-to-open locking at the stern

The rear garage of the Nova M is accessible via two side flaps with push-to-open locking. Plenty of bulky luggage can still be stored here. The payload also offers enough leeway for this. The Nova M is built as standard with a gross vehicle weight of 4,1 tons and a generous payload of 920 kilograms. For just two people, a 3,5 tonne variant with a payload of 320 kilograms can be ordered on special request. Its 6,46 meters total length and 2,15 meters width make the Nova M very maneuverable in combination with the short wheelbase of 3,66 meters. With the optional switchable all-wheel drive, the land yacht does not become an expedition vehicle straight away. However, together with the raised chassis and the off-road tires, it gives more freedom even on unpaved paths.

The base price is 98.930 euros

The basic price of the la strada Nova M with a 120 kW (163 hp) engine is 98.930 euros. In addition to ABS, ASR, ESP, daytime running lights, crosswind assistant and central locking for the driver's cab, the standard scope also includes an insulated and heated waste water tank, a bathroom window and a matching awning. With the comfort package, technology package 1 as well as preliminary freight, TÜV, gas test and delivery inspection, the price of the Nova M is 105.499 euros. In addition, extensive special equipment is available. The la strada Nova M can be seen for the first time from September 4th to 13th at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf.
