“The Huracán STO is the purest embodiment of the Lamborghini Squadra Corse know-how. Its technologies were carried over directly from the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO, and the unique performance of the Huracán GT3 EVO, which won the Daytona 24 Hours three times in a row, was used "says Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. Maurizio Reggiani, Chief Technical Officer, adds: “The Huracán STO offers the fun of a very balanced, lightweight and aerodynamically superior super sports car that reflects the driving experience and the enthusiasm of the Super Trofeo. It is perfectly matched to the most demanding racetracks in the world, but was created for the road. The extensive technical solutions gained from our Super Trofeo and GT3 programs have been refined and implemented in the Huracán STO so that the driver can experience the emotions of a racing driver every day in a street-legal Lamborghini super sports car that is also able to set lap records. "

Aerodynamics and superior lightweight construction in a super sports car design

Lamborghini Huracán STO: 1.339 kg meet 640 hp!

The Huracán STO has a completely new body design in which the inimitable Lamborghini profile has been revised to optimize the air flow. Mitja Borkert, Head of Lamborghini Design: “Racing vehicles are always a strong inspiration for our design. The Huracán STO reflects the technology transfer from our successful Huracán racing vehicles, which comes into its own in every aesthetic detail ”. Every detail of the Huracán STO is based on the aerodynamic efficiency and lightweight construction technologies required in motorsport. The Huracán STO embodies the principle that Lamborghini design always follows function: This is all the more true for a road legal vehicle that is inspired by a racing vehicle. The Huracán STO is the result of the collaboration between Lamborghini's Research and Development Department, Squadra Corse and Centro Stile, where every line and every detail is aesthetically outstanding and at the same time optimized to guarantee the best performance. The comprehensive aerodynamic solutions, inspired by the Squadra Corse racing cars, maximize aerodynamic performance, the main ones being:

Cofango with air ducts, front splitter and ventilation slots

The front hood, the fenders and the front bumper consist of a single component: the “Cofango” developed by Lamborghini engineers combines the “Cofano” (hood) and the “Parafango” (fender) including the front bumper, inspired by the Lamborghini Miura and the more modern Sesto Elemento. This not only saves weight, it also saves time during pit stops. New air ducts on the front hood improve the airflow through the central radiator, for better engine cooling and at the same time contribute to more downforce. The Cofango also has a new front splitter that directs the airflow to the redesigned vehicle underbody and the rear diffuser.

The Cofango is shaped to push the airflow onto the front louvred fenders, these maximize the airflow exiting the wheel arch, reducing pressure inside and increasing downforce at the front. The side profile of the Cofangos directs the airflow around the front wheels and reduces air resistance.

Rear fender with NACA air intake

A new rear fender derived from the Super Trofeo EVO reduces the aerodynamic drag in the front area of the vehicle and at the same time increases the downforce at the rear and the overall aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle. A NACA air inlet integrated into the rear fender of the STO serves as engine intake, whereby the shortened duct enables a reduction in static pressure losses of 30%.

Rear hood with air scoop

The redesigned rear hood has an integrated air scoop to improve air cooling in the engine compartment. Special air baffles, which are integrated into the frame of the rear bonnet, control the strong supply air flow from the snorkel according to the temperature control requirements of the engine and the exhaust system.

shark fin

An integrated “shark fin” on the rear bonnet improves the dynamic capabilities of the STO, especially when cornering: Under these conditions, the inflowing air has a yaw angle and the different pressure levels generated by the two sides of the fin have a positive effect on the Yaw stability off. The fin also smooths the airflow to the rear wing, increasing its efficiency when cornering.

Adjustable rear wing

Lamborghini Huracán STO: 1.339 kg meet 640 hp!

The new rear wing, which can be easily adjusted by hand, optimizes the aerodynamic balance and air resistance depending on the characteristics of the route. A single slotted wing with a double profile makes it possible to adjust the front profile part in three positions, which increases the rear downforce. By reducing the gap between the front and rear profile, the pressure on the top is increased, whereby the suction intensity and the expansion on the underside of the front profile is increased. The aerodynamic balance of the vehicle can thus be changed by 13%, whereby the STO can be adapted to different driving styles and conditions.

Brake cooling for maximum performance

New cooling channels on the front axle brake are used to cool the discs and brake calipers of the new CCMR brakes and work together with the Cofango ventilation slots, which remove hot air from the front wheel arches. Additional air inlets, also on the underbody, and optimized nolder are located at the rear.

Aerodynamic result

The Huracán STO achieves the strongest downforce in its class combined with the best aerodynamic balance of a rear-wheel drive vehicle, with the available superior aerodynamic load being a key factor for improved cornering performance. The overall efficiency of the air flow has been improved by 37%, and compared to the Huracán Performante, a significant increase in contact force of 53% has been achieved.

Lightweight construction of the Huracán STO

Lamborghini Huracán STO: 1.339 kg meet 640 hp!

More than 75% of the body parts of the Huracán STO are made of carbon fiber. In this way, complex structures can be produced in one component in order to increase stability and at the same time achieve weight reduction through fewer fastening points. Lamborghini's research and development department uses a carbon fiber sandwich technology for the rear fender, which is also used in the aerospace industry. Thanks to this technology, the Huracán STO requires 25% less carbon fiber material with the same structural rigidity. With an empty weight of 1.339 kg, the Huracán STO weighs 43 kg less than the already light Huracán Performante.

The Huracán STO has a windshield that is 20% lighter than the Huracán Performante and uses magnesium rims for the best strength / weight ratio, which saves additional weight compared to conventional light alloy rims with the same load capacity. The magnesium rims are fitted with bespoke Bridgestone Potenza tires, which are available in two versions: a road and a more racetrack-oriented version.

The Huracán STO - Lamborghini Squadra Corse in the heart

Lamborghini Huracán STO: 1.339 kg meet 640 hp!

From the moment the engine starts, every aspect of the Huracán STO, inside and out, moves the soul of a real racing driver. The heart of the Huracán STO is the naturally aspirated V10 engine of the Huracán EVO and Super Trofeo, which develops 640 hp (570 kW) at 8.000 rpm and 565 Nm torque at 6.500 rpm. With a widened track, stiffer suspension bushings, special stabilizers and Lamborghini's MagneRide 2.0, the STO offers all the emotions of a racing car and at the same time a comfortable driving experience on the road. For a very sporty driving experience, the engine has been calibrated for a quick response, with a direct gas pedal-throttle response and an even better sharpness of the engine sound in the upper speed range. The gear change times have been further shortened to enable very responsive and immediate shifting.

Lamborghini rear-wheel steering and a more direct and fixed steering ratio was developed for an intimate relationship between driver, car and route: the driver is in direct contact with the asphalt with feedback about the vehicle at his fingertips. Every aspect of the STO's racing game and technology enhances its ability to reach faster cornering speeds and maximize corner exit grip: the Huracán STO is the endorsement that races are won on corners, not on the straights.

Three new ANIMA driving modes

Three new driving modes underline the racing spirit of the Huracán STO and focus on demanding driving conditions: STO, Trofeo and Pioggia. The standard STO mode is intended for normal road traffic and fun on winding roads. The Lamborghini Veicolo Dinamica Integrata (LDVI) driving dynamics system is optimized for all road conditions and coupled with the appropriate damper setting. The fully active ESC can be switched off for maximum driving pleasure, while still supporting the driver.

In Trofeo mode, all systems are optimized for dry asphalt and fastest lap times. The LDVI guarantees maximum performance through special control strategies for torque vectoring and the best traction both for sprints on the straight in ESC ON mode and for lap times in ESC OFF mode. The new Brake Temperature Monitoring (BTM) algorithm for estimating the brake temperature enables the driver to constantly check the temperature of the brake system and to monitor the system's wear and tear over its service life.

Pioggia mode (rain) optimizes traction control, torque vectoring, rear wheel steering and ABS on wet asphalt. The traction control and braking system are tuned to minimize loss of grip and engine torque disruption, with the LDVI system using an accurate estimate to deliver only the torque required in wet conditions. Torque vectoring reflects the low grip conditions and ensures higher cornering speeds, while the dampers are calibrated to maximize grip and improve load transfer.

The new CCM-R brake system

The Huracán STO's motorsport DNA is also evident in its braking system. With Brembo CCM-R brakes with material know-how from Formula 1 for superior stability, the CCM-R brake discs offer four times higher thermal conductivity compared to traditional CCB. Resistance to stress is 60% higher, with maximum braking performance improved by 25% and longitudinal deceleration by 7%. The result is high stability under all driving conditions: the brake feels sporty, can be perfectly modulated and is optimized for use on the racetrack.

The interior of the Huracán STO - tailor-made

Lamborghini Huracán STO: 1.339 kg meet 640 hp!

The interior of the Huracán STO reflects the lightweight construction approach of the exterior: extensive use of carbon fiber elements throughout the cockpit, including sports seats made entirely of carbon fiber. An Alcantara interior with Lamborghini Carbonskin is used, the carpets have been removed and replaced with carbon fiber floor mats, light carbon fiber door panels with a pull loop as an opener are used. A cage made of a high-quality titanium alloy with four-point belts and a newly designed front trunk for helmet storage underline the racing DNA of the Huracán STO. The cage, developed in cooperation with our technical partner Akrapovič, is made of a high-quality titanium alloy. It is 40% lighter than conventional stainless steel cages.

A new HMI graphic (Human Machine Interface) shows information on vehicle functions on the touchscreen of the Huracán STO, including the driving mode display, the LDVI system, tire pressures and brake temperatures. A fully networked telemetry system enables drivers who are on the racetrack with their Huracán STO to monitor and record their performance and analyze the data using the Lamborghini UNICA app.

Owners of the Huracán STO can completely individualize both the exterior and the interior of their vehicle via the extensive Ad Personam program, with unlimited combinations for paintwork and interior as well as racing-like designs. The concept of customization is inherent in the design of the Huracán STO, as is the case with the racing cars on the grid of the Huracán Super Trofeo series. The launch colors Blu Laufey (blue) and Arancio California (orange) are an example of the young and sporty racing spirit of the Huracán STO.
