It's been less than two days since we have you one 840 hp Lamborghini Huracan as the Speedster "Aperta" Evo presents. And now comes another Speedster, but this time one real and directly from Lamborghini! Lamborghini Squadra Corse presents the SC20, a unique open-top racing car approved for road use. The SC20 is the second one-off conceived by the motorsport department and designed by Centro Stile in Sant'Agata Bolognese. The requirements of the customer, who were included in the project from the first sketches by the Lamborghini designers, were decisive here.
770 hp Lamborghini SC20
The common goal was to create a unique vehicle that explores design and performance limits and is able to combine aerodynamic solutions from motorsport with unprecedented lines and exclusive details. “Two years after the SC18 Alston, the SC20 was a new and fascinating challenge. The most important sources of inspiration were the Diablo VT Roadster, the Aventador J, the Veneno Roadster and the Concept S: The result is a sensational amalgamation of creativity and racing character ", explains Mitja Borkert, Head of Design at Lamborghini.
Carbon fiber body
The carbon fiber body was hand-sanded and smoothed by the Lamborghini aerodynamics experts in order to achieve optimal air flow and thus maximum driving comfort even at high speeds. The striking front splitter is framed by two fins, and the air inlets on the front flap are inspired by the Huracán GT3 EVO. The profiled side panels are reminiscent of the look of the Essenza SCV12. The muscular rear is dominated by a large carbon wing that can be adjusted in three positions: low, medium and high contact pressure.
The SC20 comes up with exclusive details, including the body colors specially designed for the customer, based on the color Bianco Fu (white), which are accentuated with Blu Cepheus (blue). This color can also be found in the interior in interplay with Nero Cosmus (black) and Bianco Lea (white). The interior impresses with its visible carbon fiber, which is used in the instrument cluster cover, rear wall, door panels, center tunnel, steering wheel details and monocoque. The seat shells with Alcantara and leather cover are also made of carbon fiber. For the door handles, however, the choice fell on solid aluminum. Finally, the grids for the interior ventilation, made using the 3D printing process in the Sant'Agata Bolognese plant, should be emphasized.
V12 engine and a lot of carbon fiber
Maurizio Reggiani, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, explains: “The SC20 is the fusion of advanced engineering, Italian craftsmanship, sportiness and the most modern design. In addition, it represents a new application example for our V12 engine and carbon fiber as a material, which is finding its way into a revolutionary, yet clearly shaped by Lamborghini DNA, open-top super sports car. "
The V12naturally aspirated with 6498 cm2 Displacement, an output of 770 hp at 8500 rpm and a torque of 720 Nm at 6750 rpm, which is the flagship among the Lamborghini units, is controlled by the optimized 7-speed ISR transmission (Independent Shifting Rod). The all-wheel drive with electronic center differential and Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires on aluminum central locking rims with 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear bring the performance to the asphalt.
Giorgio Sanna, Head of Lamborghini Motorsport, adds: “The SC20 is another technique and style exercise that combines the experience of Squadra Corse with the design of Lamborghini and is masterfully interpreted by our Centro Stile according to the wishes of the customer. This is the focus of the project during the entire development and production process of the vehicle. "
