Lancia Aurelia Outlaw European CSL by Thornley Kelham!

The British classic car expert Thornley kelham just posed with that European CSL the hottest outlaw variant of the Lancia Aurelia before. Unlike the six previous variants, the last three vehicles have a body Aluminium. It is made by hand and ensures a weight Loss by 75 kilograms. Another difference to the production vehicle Lancia Aurelia B20 GT are the less strongly curved panes of the lowered roof line. The design changes are not new, however, because they come from the original company of the Aurelia, Lancia. The automobile manufacturer was already building a special car for motorsport use in the early 50s. The goal was a vehicle that could achieve a higher top speed thanks to improved aerodynamics.

Quality through handwork

This vehicle was once owned by Giovanni Bracco. It was the car with which he took part in various races in 1951. The races were the Mille Miglia, Le Mans, the six hours of Pescara, the night race of Caracella and the Carrera Panamericana. The Aurelia later disappeared and was believed to be lost for many years. But he was found and received one from Thornley Kelham restorationthat made the Aurelia shine again in its old glory.

This restoration was ultimately the inspiration for the nine Outlaw vehicles. the lower roof line is also with European CSL recognizable in the design. Unlike the Aurelia from series production, the new vehicle has wider fenders. They are made of aluminum and are handcrafted. In the end, 5.000 hours pass before the Aurelia B20 GT becomes a finished outlaw. The exact construction time depends on the Special requests of the customer. 2200 working hours alone, almost half the time, are required for the modernization and restoration of the chassis.

Here is especially with additional stiffeners worked. And on a few counts, Thornley Kelham is deliberately unfaithful to the original. So are the body shapes not an exact copy and the tank cap protrudes roughly outward, for example, and has one for this purpose quick release. Painting and different polishing passes take a lot of time. The British team needed an additional 800 hours of work before the car was considered perfect.

Another plus: the powerful V6 engine!

The outlaw is driven by one 3,2 liter V6 engine to Busso specifications. The engine, which is through finely honed cylinder heads, a freely programmable injection , and a Five-speed transmission shines in transaxle construction on the rear axle, is manufactured by the technical department of Thornley Kelham. And the results are proud 300 PS. So more than twice as much as the original Aurelia with its 118 hp.

And even the previous outlaw models are surpassed. They only have 220 hp. In addition, the “Fast Road” specification Find a mention. It is a package with a special Disc brake system, One Limited slip differential and an Rack and pinion steering. Alternatively, a Power Steering can be ordered as well as a state-of-the-art Rear axle suspension. Overall, the Outlaw comes in at a surprisingly low curb weight of only 1.100 kg.

Everything according to customer requirements!

Even with the new outlaw model, the customers decide on the Configuration. The prospect chooses the Color the body and interior is based on requests like that Seat shape, the covers from one or two-tone Connolly leather as well as one Steering wheel made of wood received. The vehicle is already standard with amenities like one Air conditioning, an invisible one Roll cage and a Alcantra headlining while the construction of the dashboard is up to the customer in every detail. Also the design of the area behind the seats, where there is, among other things, the possibility of a noble one Luggage compartment to install, depends on the buyer, which is best based on the final price for such a copy Thorney Kelham inquired.
