Who says that only the British tuner Kahn Design with the Flying Huntsman 110 6 6 Defender Double Cab Pickup is able to convert the classic Land Rover Defender to 6 × 6 drive which was wrong. The boys from Classic Overland they are (almost) just as capable and show it impressively with the “Project Black Mamba”. Ok, at this point it should be mentioned that the base was a Land Rover Perentie 6 × 6. A vehicle originally made for the Australian Army that has already been converted to the additional third axle. At the end of the 80s, this example, which the tuner bought with only 30.000 miles, was still powered by an Isuzu engine and 3,9 liters of displacement. Now it is a GM LS3 E-ROD engine with a huge 430 PS and 576 NM torque. The Defender has of course been completely restored and is now in the condition of a new car.
Fender widenings and power domes
The body comes with many highlights such as large fender flares, specially made aprons and a massive roll bar on the large cargo area is installed. Added to this are countless small details such as the massive aluminum underrun protection, the warning winch and the large towing lugs in the front apron. And also the massive side treads we would like to mention at this point. They are also needed because of the huge dimensions to climb the cabin. The addressed V8 is covered by a new hood with power dome and on the right side of the vehicle a large intake snorkel protrudes beyond the roof. And just as similarly massive is the rear, that completely without apron and only shows a robust trailer hitch and white LED taillights.

The small exhaust pipe on the left side is almost a minor matter and considering the thick V8 under the hood you could have applied a bit thicker here. In addition to the huge body but especially the wheelset is an eye-catcher. That's because 6 are huge (+ 1 spare wheel on the truck bedMaxxis Trepador Extreme Off Road tires on bedlock rims, and we're pretty sure the dimensions are relatively identical to those of the Kahn Design Big Foot from 2018. He had 37 Zöller installed and this format is probably installed here. In addition to small details such as the grilles on the new front headlamp, the aluminum applications on the front apron or the huge mud flaps, we notice in particular the surface of the hood and the wheel arch extensions. The components are coated with a kind of black snakeskin in which we hope that it is only artificial leather.
WARN winch & large towing eyes
And according to the website of the tuner, of course, the cabin is completely redone. However, pictures are currently not published and on the existing Pics we can only recognize a black leather interior and a modern rearview mirror. The all-black Defender in combination with the darkened discs would probably fit well into an end-time movie like MadMax or Terminator and we might see that Project black mamba sometime on the canvas again.
