The new edition of the BMW 8 Series continues the brand's current model offensive in the luxury segment in a particularly emotional way. There are three individual vehicle characters to choose from. Each of them showcases the fascinating combination of sportiness and luxury in its own unique way. The BMW 8 Series Coupé represents the classic two-door body shape and thus stands in the tradition of the brand's legendary sports cars, which combine elegant lines with dynamic driving characteristics. The BMW 8 Series Coupé was developed in parallel with the BMW M8 GTE long-distance racing car.

In the BMW 8 Series Cabriolet, sporty performance is combined with maximum exclusivity and the special appeal of open-top driving pleasure. Its classic textile hood can be opened or closed fully automatically within 15 seconds at the push of a button.

The series is rounded off by a vehicle concept that combines hallmark BMW dynamics with a clear increase in spaciousness and long-distance suitability. As a four-door model with exceptionally high seating comfort in the rear for a sports car, the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé occupies an exceptional position in the luxury segment. Its outstanding performance characteristics result from the fact that it is the only model in its competitive environment that was derived directly from a two-door sports car, the BMW 8 Series Coupé.

Three engines, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive to choose from.

Not only the diversity in the range of vehicle concepts, but also the drive technology offers several opportunities to experience the exclusive dynamics of a BMW 8 Series in an individual way. There is a choice of three engines for each of the luxury sports cars. At the top of the model range are the BMW M850i ​​xDrive Coupé, the BMW M850i ​​xDrive Cabriolet and the BMW M850i ​​xDrive Gran Coupé. These models bring the power of their 4,4-liter, 390 kW/530 hp V8 engine to the road with the help of intelligent all-wheel drive.

The 3,0-litre straight-six petrol engine in the BMW 840i xDrive Coupé, BMW 840i xDrive Cabriolet and BMW 840i xDrive Gran Coupé also transfers its drive torque to all four wheels. Alternatively, the 245 kW/333 hp engine in the models BMW 840i Coupé, BMW 840i Cabriolet and BMW 840i Gran Coupé can also be combined with classic rear-wheel drive.

Torque, efficiency and supreme driving pleasure characterize the character of the drive technology for the BMW 840d xDrive Coupé, the BMW 840d xDrive Cabriolet and the BMW 840d xDrive Gran Coupé. Its 3,0 liter in-line six-cylinder diesel engine generates a maximum output of 250 kW/340 hp. The spontaneous development of power, but also the consumption and emission behavior of the turbodiesel unit are additionally optimized through the use of 48-volt mild hybrid technology.

The design language and dynamics of the new BMW 8 Series are not only fascinating on the road. For the American artist Jeff Koons, they serve as sources of inspiration for the edition of the BMW 850i xDrive Gran Coupé that he designed. THE 8 X JEFF KOONS embodies precision, sophistication and craftsmanship. A multi-layer paint finish in eleven colors ensures an expressive appearance. The finest leather and other exquisite materials, the rich red and blue tones of BMW M GmbH and an engraved signature by the artist characterize the impressive ambience in the interior.

Jeff Koons and the BMW Group are linked by a partnership established more than a decade ago. In 2010 he designed the BMW M3 GT2 Art Car that competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The new project was created to mark the 50th anniversary of the BMW Group's global commitment to culture. The limited edition of the edition model is manufactured at the BMW Group plant in Dingolfing. THE 8 X JEFF KOONS thus becomes an extraordinarily exclusive combination of art and driving pleasure in a luxury sports car from BMW.

The BMW 8 Series Coupé presents itself as a vehicle that sits low on the road with an elongated silhouette and a roof line that flows elegantly into the powerful rear end. A wide shoulder section and large track widths signal the driving dynamics potential of the two-door model. Its roof, which can optionally be made of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP), has a central indentation reminiscent of the double bulge in classic racing cars known as the "double bubble".

The BMW 8 Series Cabriolet also has dynamic lines with its tightly fitting tensioning bow. After opening, the soft top is laid flat in its convertible top compartment. When the roof is open, the harmonious design of the exterior and interior can be seen. The vehicle occupants are surrounded by uniformly designed surfaces that extend from the dashboard to the door panels and the rear to the convertible top compartment.

In addition to the individual proportions, the exterior design of the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé also features an independent design of the side section and the rear. The four-door model also has a wheelbase that is 8 millimeters longer than that of the BMW 201 Series Coupé, at 3 millimeters.

With the extensively modified design for the new BMW 8 Series Coupé, the new BMW 8 Series Cabriolet and the new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé, the performance character and extravagant presence of the luxury sports car are emphasized even more intensively. All model variants are now equipped with an M sports package as standard. This means that they have aerodynamically optimized body features in the area of ​​the front and rear aprons and the side skirts that are painted in the vehicle color. The large, lower air inlets at the front are now structured by horizontal struts. The diffuser insert of the rear apron is in Dark Shadow metallic. 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in a double-spoke design fitted with mixed tires complete the now even sportier appearance. In addition, the standard equipment now includes an M sports brake system with brake calipers painted blue.

The particularly powerful V8 models BMW M850i ​​xDrive Coupé, BMW M850i ​​xDrive Cabriolet and BMW M850i ​​xDrive Gran Coupé also continue to roll off the assembly line with M-specific design features. In addition, for the first time they now have aerodynamically optimized M exterior mirrors in a design originally developed exclusively for the high-performance sports cars of the BMW M8 series. In addition, the air flow is controlled even more precisely by a front spoiler attachment, and in the case of the new BMW M850i ​​xDrive Coupé also by an M rear spoiler. The standard equipment of the three top models in the series also includes a particularly powerful version of the M sports brake system, the M sports differential and 20-inch M light-alloy wheels in a Y-spoke design with mixed tires. These equipment features are also included in the optional M Sport package Pro for the six-cylinder models of the new BMW 8 Series.

Like the new M Performance package for the eight-cylinder models, it also includes the M high-gloss Shadow Line with extended scope, black brake calipers, the M lights Shadow Line with dark inserts available for the first time and a black M rear spoiler for the BMW 8 Series Coupé.

To mark the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH, an option is also being offered for all models in the new BMW 8 Series that signals a special connection to traditional racing enthusiasm. On request, all models of the new BMW 8 Series can be given the classic "BMW Motorsport" logo on the bonnet, tailgate and wheel hub caps instead of the usual BMW emblems. With its staggered semicircles in blue, violet and red, the anniversary emblem is reminiscent of the original trademark of BMW M GmbH, which was first used on racing cars in 1973.

An M logo on the BMW kidney grille indicates that the BMW M850i ​​xDrive Coupé, BMW M850i ​​xDrive Cabriolet and BMW M850i ​​xDrive Gran Coupé belong to the BMW M model family and the performance of the V8 engine behind the radiator grille. There are four new body colors to choose from for the exterior paintwork of the luxury sports car. The variants Skyscraper Gray metallic, San Remo Green metallic, M Portimao Blue metallic and BMW Individual Frozen Tanzanite Blue metallic create additional options for emphasizing the modern design language of the exterior in an individual way.

An M leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons and shift paddles for manual gear selection of the 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission is now standard equipment for all models in the new BMW 8 Series. In the BMW M850i ​​xDrive Coupé, BMW M850i ​​xDrive Cabriolet and BMW M850i ​​xDrive Gran Coupé, the M leather steering wheel has a model-specific design for the middle spoke and decorative stitching in the colors of BMW M GmbH. The wide center console, which rises towards the dashboard in the front area and clearly separates the areas of the driver and front passenger, also contributes to a decidedly sporty atmosphere.

In the BMW 8 Series Coupé, as in the BMW 8 Series Cabriolet, there are two rear seats with a distinctive individual seat character. The second row of the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé not only offers particularly generous legroom, but also a third seat between the two outer seats with pronounced contours and integrated headrests, which can be used for short journeys with a fully-fledged belt system. The four-door luxury sports car is therefore designed as a 4+1 seater. Its standard equipment now also includes 4-zone automatic air conditioning with separate temperature and air volume controls in the rear.

The multifunction seats are combined with BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery with extended features. It is available in a variety of colors, including particularly stylish two-tone versions. The surfaces of the dashboard and the door panels are also covered with leather as standard. The electroplated surfaces for the surrounds of the side air vents and the accent strips in the area of ​​the door openers are also harmoniously coordinated. The door openers designed as closed clips are integrated in a particularly stylish way. In keeping with this, the control buttons for the electrically operated windows, the door locks and the memory function of the seats, which are integrated in the door shoulders, now also have electroplated surfaces in all models of the BMW 8 Series.

The BMW Live Cockpit Professional is part of the standard equipment of the new BMW 8 Series Coupé, the new BMW 8 Series Cabriolet and the new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé.
