More aerodynamics & less weight: Lotus Emira GT4!

As we know, the Emira is (more precisely "the" Emira) the first all-new Lotus in over a decade. The performance was in July 2021 and also we reported on the 400 hp cracker with rear-wheel drive and combustion engine. And now there is even an extreme racing version called the “Lotus Emira GT4”. And this vehicle is tFrom a technical point of view, a concept developed with the RML Group. And according to Lotus, this will be presented on the test track in Hethel this year. And we are sure - Concept or not - of the Emira GT4 will be launched almost as you can see here. According to Lotus, the speedster should be one dry weight of only 1.260 kilograms, making it significantly lighter than the production vehicle. How exactly this is achieved, Lotus does not say anything at the moment. The bulk of the weight loss will be fine, but from that abstinence various amenities such as air conditioning, radio, etc. result that the road vehicle brings.

For example, the rustic comes from dashboard in the interior of Motec and it even enables data recording. Also here is an FIA-compliant one Roll cage, Fire Extinguisher and the driver and passenger are in ultra-light sports seats with six-point belts held. There is one for the racetrack Fuel tank with a capacity of 96 liters, the one of course FIA approval owns. And for the last tenth on the track there is an even better one Öhlins suspension and a befitting delay enables a new one Alcon braking system with Bosch Motorsport ABS. She sits behind athletic 18 inch rims with Pirelli GT4 tires (265/645 × 18 & 305/680 × 18), which are significantly lighter than the 20 inchers of the civil Emira. Only in terms of performance does everything seem the same.

The GT4 version also comes with the 3,5-liter engine V6 (2GR-FE) with supercharged (Harrop TVS 1900) from the shelf of Toyota, the about 400 PS perform and at a Six-speed xTrac transmission with paddle shifters is coupled. In combination with just round 1,3 tons of curb weight and a setup generally tailored to the racetrack, the combination should be perfect to own a thoroughbred track tool. We are currently not aware of anything on the subject of costs, production targets and the start of delivery. However, Lotus states that a small edition will come for the 2022 racing season and that more cars will follow in 2023. If we get more information, there will of course be an update for this report.
