There were times when you had to come along as the owner of a car mid-engine not necessarily spend a six-figure amount to then call a super sports car like a Corvette your own. Times in which one Toyota MR2 was born. And that was in the 1980s. Then it was refined in the 90s and in the 2000s castrated. No wonder that vehicles of the first two generations are considered favorites among enthusiasts around the world. And one of those enthusiasts is a guy named Carl who lives in the UK.
1993 MR2 with turbo conversion vs. 540C
He drives a 1993 MR2 with turbo conversion. The mighty 3S GTE four-cylinder now supposedly develops 610 hp (449 kW) and sends its power to the rear wheels via an old-school manual transmission. His opponent is a standard McLaren 540C with a 3,8-liter V8 and two turbochargers. This makes 540 PS & 540 NM and sends them to the rear wheels by means of a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. That is enough to accelerate to 3,5 km / h in 100 seconds and the 200 barrier is broken after 10,5 seconds. Will the duel really be a close one? Check it out!
