A wealth of performance and emotions - the winter driver training courses at the AMG Driving Academy in Sweden. Under the guidance of experienced instructors and AMG brand ambassadors from motorsport, the AMG Winter Experience offers participants the opportunity to improve their driving skills on extensive and optimally groomed terrain in Swedish Lapland. A wide range of option packages enables the individual configuration of the training - perfectly tailored to personal needs and previous knowledge.
2022 AMG Winter Experience
From January 2022, the AMG Driving Academy will welcome interested customers to the AMG Winter Experience in Arjeplog, Sweden. On an exclusively used ice lake with an area of more than 337.000 m² and numerous perfectly groomed sections and handling tracks, the participants experience the fascination of AMG. In doing so, they learn to control their vehicle in borderline situations and improve their driving skills, of course without neglecting driving pleasure. Qualified instructors are available throughout the event, who can give specialist tips based on their many years of experience in various motorsport classes. In this way, customers improve their individual driving skills.
At selected training courses, the well-known racing drivers and AMG brand ambassadors Maro Engel, Bernd Schneider, Karl Wendlinger and Bernd Mayländer are available with technical expertise on all questions about correct vehicle handling. Maro Engel was runner-up in the British Formula 2007 Championship in 3. He started in the DTM and with his numerous victories, including the GT World Cup in Macau and the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, is one of the world's best GT3 drivers. With his five-time title win, Bernd Schneider is the record holder in the DTM. In 2013 he won both the Dubai 3-hour race and the Nürburgring 24-hour race with an SLS AMG GT24. Karl Wendlinger was in Formula 1991 from 1995 to 1® active and from 2002 to 2003 driver in the DTM. The Austrian has been a Mercedes-AMG brand ambassador since 2012. Bernd Mayländer has been the official Formula 2001 driver since 1® Safety cars.
The AMG Winter Experience vehicle fleet
The vehicle fleet used at the AMG Winter Experience includes the following models:
- Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4MATIC +
- Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S 4MATIC +
- Mercedes AMG C 63 S Coupé
- Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC + 4 door coupe
The Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4MATIC + with a 4-cylinder turbo engine with 310 kW (421 hp) and 500 Nm ensures absolute top performance in the compact sports car segment. Unrestricted performance and maximum driving pleasure are guaranteed, which is why the compact car model is an ideal addition to the sporty range of vehicles for the AMG Winter Experience. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC + 4-door Coupé marks the top position in the four-door model family. The fully variable 4MATIC + all-wheel drive ensures optimum traction, especially when driving in a sporty manner. The four-door coupé not only accelerates from 3,2 to 0 km / h in 100 seconds, thanks to the additional RACE drive program including drift mode, highly dynamic driving maneuvers are also possible. Depending on the event format and option package, the vehicles are occupied individually or twice.
The right program for every driving ability
At the AMG Winter Experience, drivers of all levels of experience get their money's worth - from beginners to advanced drivers to experienced experts: the AMG Winter Experience offers the right program for every AMG fan. The "Basic" training level is ideal for beginners. In the individual formats, such as the “Discover” event format, the focus is on driving safety and getting to know Mercedes-AMG vehicles. The "Advanced" training level serves as advanced training. Here the driver can expand the fundamentals of driving physics that he has already learned. In addition, the handling of high-performance vehicles in challenging situations and with the Mercedes-AMG driver assistance and performance systems is deepened.
As part of the “Advanced Week”, participants have five days to improve their driving skills. For the “Pro” training level, sufficient prior experience from an AMG advanced training course or a comparable training course is a prerequisite. In the event format “Pro Week”, personal driving skills can be improved in a targeted manner through increased individual support in small groups. The “Masters” training level is ideal for very experienced drivers. In intensive technical discussions with experienced racing drivers on and off the training ground, they expand their knowledge and test driving in the absolute limit range in the individual format "Pro Plus".
As a special highlight, exciting competitions such as a "drift competition" are on the program at selected events. The participants can prove how safely they can drift on the ice track. In the “Race of Champs” competition, the best drivers from various preliminary rounds compete against each other and fight for victory. In some training formats, a spectacular drive in the AMG Ice Taxi complements the experience. With maximum traction and power, the AMG Ice Taxi with its special studded tires shows what is possible under challenging conditions.
Exclusive highlights away from the training area
The comfortable accommodations Hotel Silverhatten **** and the AMG Lodge ****, which is only accessible to those taking part in the AMG Winter Experience, ensure special moments of wellbeing beyond the driving experience. Only 18 km away from the training area, the Hotel Silverhatten offers a great view of the winter landscape of northern Sweden and has numerous amenities such as a restaurant, hotel bar, sauna, whirlpool, relaxation area and fitness room. The 4-star AMG Lodge **** is equipped with 29 exclusive single and double rooms and fascinates with a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and lakes. Participants of the AMG Winter Experience receive free access to all offers that the Hotel Silverhatten has to offer.
