Hard to believe, but this Mercedes 280 SE from 1970 is no ordinary classic. Because if you look closely, you will see a small AMG badge on the rear. And it reveals that he is something very special. If you look under the bonnet of the sedan, you will see a modern engine. It was from Matt Kwiek installed. Specifically, it is a modern AMG V8 that now drives the W108. The vehicle is a 280 SE imported from Germany and the V8 comes from a 55 S2001 AMG. It was mounted with Mercedes engine mounts and the naturally aspirated 5,4 liter puts out around 400bhp to the rear axle via a six-speed manual transmission that comes from a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire.

And in the video by Top Gear there is another one from Matt Kwiek see built car. Namely a Mercedes 280 CE Widebody from 1978 that also has an AMG engine. However, this is forced ventilation (charged) and is even supposed to achieve between 450 and 500 hp. Apart from the new engine, which incidentally comes from a CL55 AMG from 2003, the aging sports coupé also has a revised chassis, a locking differential and a new manual transmission. By the way, we really like the combination of classic design and powerful engines. Especially since they are so inconspicuous. What do you all mean? Photo credit: Screenshots YouTube
