This particular one mercedes slc (C 107) is a very special vehicle. The classic was captured in a YouTube video by the automotive photographer Larry Chen under the magnifying glass and hides the engine from a Mk4 Toyota Supra under its inconspicuous bonnet. The owner wanted something that would not put as much strain on the front end and at the same time deliver even more power. So the choice fell relatively quickly on one of the most legendary engines of all time. Instead of the standard 4,5-liter V8, the 450 Mercedes 1977SLC is powered by a 2JZ GTE engine driven on around 400 PS was tuned. Modifications include a Mitsubishi TE06 single-turbocharger set-up, there was a Z32 intercooler system, a custom-made one Sports exhaust system and an OEM cooler with increased volume.

Coupled to the engine is a four-speed automatic transmission that comes from a Toyota Aristo and can easily transfer power to the rear wheels. So that everything communicates correctly with each other, the complete control is carried out via a MoTeC ECU control unit. And that even applies to the air conditioning, which does not work on a Mercedes, but on a Toyota basis. But that's not all!

Because the Ferrari front brakes, which come from an F40, are even crazier than the Toyota parts. A set-up from the F430 also decelerates on the rear axle. And in front of the brake system, the tuner puts specially made alloy wheels. Since the owner of the SLC runs a company that manufactures rims, it was easy to install his preferred Mercedes-Alus, which are only available in 16 inches, as a custom-made 17-inch model.

Painted with OEM Mercedes paint

And so that the wheel set sits well in the wheel arch, there was a lowering using a specially made one sports suspension. Nevertheless, the classic has remained optically very close to the original, in our opinion. Because the only visible non-Mercedes components are the rims, the brake system and there was a Toyota switch in the cabin. Incidentally, the SLC has been repainted in OEM paint and the front seats have been newly upholstered. All in all, it took two years to complete, which is impressive considering the scope, the attention to detail, and the overall very clean implementation.
