With a Mercedes Sprinter on the way to freedom? Janis McDavid shows us how. It proves that a physical handicap doesn't have to be an obstacle. Janis is the proud owner of a converted Mercedes-Benz Sprinter that gives him the road to mobility. The 29-year-old native of the Ruhr area is a well-known speaker and author and has given countless lectures in many countries. He was born with no arms and no legs, but that doesn't prevent him from having a positive outlook on life. He also makes the most of his life and also owns the converted Sprinter. A person with no limbs at the wheel of a car? That is possible! And when Janis found out, he wanted one of these vehicles for people with disabilities. After passing the driving license in a disabled driving school, it should be a specially converted Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.
Driving without arms and legs!
The Swabian company Paravan, which also owns the aforementioned driving school, is known as one of around 75 companies that build vehicles for people with physical disabilities. You have the mission: To help people with disabilities to move about. And the Sprinter offers a good basis for this. Jani's electric wheelchair drives over the back into the Sprinter. The doors open at the push of a button and a loading ramp extends. When the electric wheelchair is securely locked in place, Janis grabs his lanyard, leaves the wheelchair and slides over a padded step forward into the seat. After a practiced turn to get into the seat belt, Janis clicks the lock with his head Device and can go. Accelerating, steering and braking is done with the help of a joystick that is stuck under his armpit. The video shows an impressive view of Janis McDavid's specially converted Sprinter.
