That's exactly how the Z4 M of the E85 generation, with the cool design by Juliane Blasi (outside) and Nadya Arnaout (inside), should have left the factory in Regensburg, right? At some point in early 2019, tuner Manhart Performance managed to get the MANHART MHZ4 600 on its feet, which has the legendary 10-cylinder from the BMW M5 / M6 generation E60 / E63 on board. And that the guys at engine swap You have already shown exactly what they are doing with similar conversions such as the V10 in the E92 M3 or the M4 engine in M2, But still a bit crazier is the smaller and with 1.450 kilograms also lighter Z4 with the S85 V10 naturally aspirated engine with 40 valves. As is well known, this comes with some inspiration from the Formula 1 V8 engine (P86) that was installed in the BMW Sauber F1 racing car at the time.

The S85B50 is and remains the ultimate high-speed engine from BMW and it reaches a maximum speed of 8.250 rpm. as well as over 100 hp per liter of displacement. It has a high compression ratio of 12,0: 1 and was only slightly heavier than the S62-V8 predecessor from the E39 M5. And Manhart not only stuffed the engine into the Z4 Roadster, but also teased out a significant increase in performance. Namely on huge 621 HP and 640 NM torque. The upgrade was achieved, among other things, by increasing the displacement to 5,8 liters, an optimized intake and an in-house sports exhaust system made of stainless steel with M-typical tailpipes. And the power continues to be delivered exclusively to the rear wheels, which use the well-known Manhart Concave One forged wheel set and, in combination with a lowering, to make contact with the road. But now with the help of a six-speed manual gearbox from the M3 E92 including racing clutch and differential from the E60 M5

By the way: if we are correct then that was it basic model of the MHZ4 600 "only" about 590 hp and the variant with 621 hp as a special "limited edition" at the start. So quite sure, but we are not. Either way, there was a Bilstein B4 PSS10 coilover kit for the Z16 with V10 and, of course, the braking system has also been adapted to the enormous performance. The Z4 received, among other things, stronger and larger 6-piston brake calipers from Brembo with slotted 380 × 34 millimeter brake discs at the front and the brake from the M6 at the rear is a significant improvement over the series. Visually, there is also the golden war paint, a few carbon applications, a front apron attachment, as well as the typical Manhart badges on the front and rear. The best, however, is definitely the small V10 reference on the tailgate of the Roadster, which probably causes some astonishment, but at the same time is the explanation why the Z4 is getting smaller on the horizon. If we receive more information about the Z4 in a timely manner, there will of course be an update for this report. You will be informed about this if you simply use our Feed subscribe to.
