Manhart TR 850: the over-Porsche 911 from Wuppertal!

The Manhart company is actually known as a BMW and mini tuner, but has recently been devoting itself more and more to other projects. Having already got the new Supra was refined by Toyota, now it's the turn of the German super sports car icon - the Porsche 911 Turbo. The Wuppertal tuning company already opened in 2018 Project based on the 911 Turbo realized, which was named Manhart TR 700. The latest model, which is based on the 991.2 Turbo S, is called the Manhart TR 850. This vehicle signals the next evolutionary stage of the TR 700 project and provides an insane 850 hp and 1.090 Newton meters of maximum torque. But we will go into that in more detail later, because this tuning monster has not only been modified technically, but also optically according to all the rules of the art.

Manhart TR 850 with heavy performance

The yellow painted Über-Porsche has a large, fixed rear wing and a sports exhaust system with downpipes, which do not receive TÜV approval and are therefore only suitable for export. In addition, the exhaust system with stainless steel rear silencers has a flap function. According to Manhart, this should result in a significantly enhanced sound. At the front there are tires in the format 255/30 ZR21, and the rear axle has rollers in the format 325/25 ZR 21. The tires are mounted on shiny black rims in the 21-inch format, which come from the OEM portfolio of Porsche, and have a central lock. Yellow decorative stripes were attached to the rims, which pick up the body color of the Manhart TR 850. In order to bring the Porsche 911 Turbo, which is already crouching deeply on the road, even closer to the asphalt, lowering springs from H&R were installed by Manhart, which lower the ground clearance of the car by a further 30 mm. Individually configurable brake system upgrades and exterior and interior modifications are also available for an additional charge. With this 911 Turbo S you are guaranteed to be an eye-catcher at sports car meetings like Cars & Coffee, although there are still much more expensive hypercars to be seen, which however often cannot keep up with the Manhart-Porsche in terms of performance.

Extensive modifications to the engine and transmission.

In order to tease out 270 hp more than the production version from the 3,8-liter six-cylinder boxer engine with biturbo charging, Manhart made extensive changes to the charging. Both VTG turbochargers have been optimized, and a different intercooler and a modified intake and air filter have been installed. In addition, the engine software was recalibrated and adapted to the upgraded hardware. But not only the engine got a new software, but also the dual clutch gearbox to withstand the loads of 1090 Newton meters of maximum torque. The Manhart TR 0 catapults itself from 100 to 850 in a breathtaking 2,4 seconds, and a speed of 200 is reached in an impressive 7,3 seconds. The top speed of the biturbo monster is over 330 km / h. When you drive such a car, you always have to keep in mind that the slightest burst of gas can seriously endanger your driver's license, and this automobile catapult probably doesn't forgive any major driving errors, even though the projectile has all-wheel drive as standard.

The 911 myth is upheld by such projects

It is precisely through the successes on the racetrack and the innumerable tuning options that the 911 legend arose, which has remained unbroken to this day and makes young and old all over the world rave. No other sports car has achieved this cult status over more than 60 years like the one from Zuffenhausen with the legendary number. Manhart Performance shows once again that the world's best-selling super sports car is still a long way from reaching the end of the flagpole.
