In addition to the one presented yesterday Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RS MR there is also the GT2 RS (991.2) with the "MR" addition in the name! And that is even sharper and set a record on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife on October 25, 2018, which is still valid. The 700 hp 911 GT2 RS MR had lapped the legendary 20,6 kilometers under notarial supervision in just 6: 40,3 minutes. Up until this point in time, no road-legal vehicle had ever ridden through the “Green Hell” faster. Compared to a production GT2 RS, this means an improvement of exactly 7 seconds. And of course the 2 was equipped with the MR Performance Kit. The GT2017-RS was specially designed for the Nordschleife by Porsche engineers and Manthey Racing experts and piloted by Lars Kern. He had already set a lap record in the standard 911 GT2 RS in XNUMX.

With the MR Performance Kit from Manthey-Racing, pure racing technology comes from the racing car directly onto the road. There were also modifications in the areas of chassis, wheels, setup and especially the aerodynamics. Specifically, the kit aims to optimize the RS for club sport and track day events. Incidentally, the kit was created in collaboration with Porsche and the partners who won the 2018 24-hour races at the Nürburgring and Le Mans. The only non-street legal change to the record-breaking vehicle was the driver's seat. Instead of the standard sports bucket seat, a racing bucket seat was installed for safety reasons. But it brought "no" weight advantage with it.

With regard to aerodynamics to optimize downforce, Manthey-Racing has given the GT2 RS an additional flow-optimized carbon underbody in lightweight design, there were additional flaps, a new air control element, a carbon engine cover with Gurney flap, a carbon mounting bracket, a huge rear wing including side plates on special wing supports and a new rear diffuser was also installed. In our opinion, the most visually striking feature are the carbon aerodiscs on the ultra-light and particularly high-quality magnesium rims (-12,6 kg, 9,5 × 20 ET50 & 12,5 × 21 ET48) in matt black. The Porsche brake system of the GT2 RS is still hidden behind the new aluminum, but it is equipped with high-performance brake pads and a brake line set with steel casing (Stainless steel brake hoses) for a further improved pedal feedback and an associated faster response time.

And the chassis of the GT2 RS was replaced by the in-house MR coilover kit with 3/4-way adjustable shock absorbers in aluminum construction with support bearings and lift connection. In combination with a new water tank from Manthey (to increase the capacity of the original container / approx. 9l) the changes to the GT2 RS are rounded off and the 7 seconds on the Nordschleife made clear.
