As is well known, electrification does not stop at the traditional Italian brand Maserati. Now comes the Ghibli Fenice Hybrid, the first luxury sedan from the brand with the trident, which has a 48V mild hybrid system. One would like to regain lost ground and react to the growing environmental awareness of motorists and car enthusiasts. Officially presented to the public a few months ago at the Chengdu Auto Show, the model is limited to just 50 pieces and can be ordered worldwide. However, it is likely that only 10 pieces are intended for the European market, making it virtually impossible to buy the special model. The 50 copies have probably been reserved long ago, and there is only one Chinese price quotation on the network, which is 918.800 RMB. That is the equivalent of around 120.000 euros. This very special Maserati Ghibli is on Quattroporte level, and costs almost double the entry-level version.
Only available in Rosso Magma.
Maserati developed a very special paintwork especially for the model, which goes by the name of Rosso Magma. Not to be confused with the lacquer called Rosso Magma Ferrari Omologata, which was also specially created as a special paint. The grille and bumper of the Maserati special model were kept in matt gray to further enhance the sedan's sporty look. In addition, the Ghibli Fenice Hybrid has four exhaust pipes, which are conventionally arranged to demonstrate the claim to be the most dynamic and sportiest luxury sedan at the rear. Tuning is of course somehow inappropriate on the exclusive Maserati, because a limited special model, which is very likely to have a high increase in value in old age, should not be optically or technically modified in order not to endanger the stability of its value.
Infotainment developed together with Tencent.
The great importance of the Chinese market for Maserati in the meantime can also be seen from the fact that the infotainment system of the Ghibli Fenice was developed together with the Chinese technology group Tencent. The 10,1 inch (approx. 26 cm) monitor enables Maserati to largely do without buttons in the center console on the Ghibli Fenice Hybrid, as most of the functions are controlled by the rotary push-button controller for the screen behind the Automatic selector lever is attached, can control. Only the automatic air conditioning cannot be controlled via the controller, as its buttons are still conventionally attached below the screen.
Mild hybrid turbo gasoline engine with four cylinders
Not only electrification, but also dowsizing has found its way into Maserati. For the first time, the brand relies on a four-cylinder turbo instead of engines with six or eight cylinders. This generates 330 hp and 450 Newton meters of maximum torque, and is therefore good in the forage. It should go from 5,7 to 0 km / h in just 100 seconds, but unfortunately we are not yet aware of the top speed.
Hybrid and Maserati - a perfect match
You can see from the driving performance that the combination of four-cylinder mild hybrid and Maserati harmonizes very well, and in our opinion it is thoroughly commendable that the Italians have now also arrived in the age of electrification of the automobile.
