In honor of 70 years of reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, British luxury supercar manufacturer McLaren Automotive has unveiled a bespoke Anniversary Platinum livery and plaque, marking 18 years to the day since the opening of the McLaren Technology Center ( MTC), McLaren's global headquarters in Woking, by Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty, who is now Britain's longest-reigning monarch, is being celebrated with a specially developed platinum-silver 'Platinum Jubilee' livery. It was designed to complement the materials used in a special plaque developed for the occasion by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), McLaren's in-house bespoke division. Both features were unveiled on a one-off of the McLaren Artura, the brand's groundbreaking new high-performance hybrid supercar, today at the MTC.
McLaren Platinum Jubilee livery
- McLaren has developed a 'Platinum Jubilee' livery to celebrate Her Majesty's 70th reign
- The paintwork has been color-matched to a one-off platinum 'Elizabeth II' plaque developed by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), McLaren's in-house customization department, and applied to a one-off Artura, McLaren's next-generation hybrid supercar
- Today (12.05.2022/18/XNUMX) it is XNUMX years since Her Majesty opened the McLaren Technology Center in Woking, Surrey.
After developing a bespoke tooling and press to produce the plaque, MSO and McLaren's advanced coatings partner AkzoNobel analyzed various lighting conditions to determine the most suitable combination of metal pigments. MSO's paint developers then formulated the desired platinum composition, which took eight days to complete, including durability and application testing. “MSO was honored to develop a new platinum color to celebrate Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee this year. This special livery, which will be available to customers for years to come, is a fitting tribute to this historic milestone." Ansar Ali, Managing Director – McLaren Special Operations, McLaren Automotive
