1965 Mercedes 230 SL Pagoda (W113) with engine swap and air conditioning!

It stood and still stands somewhat in the shadow of the legendary 300SL, but the Mercedes Pagoda has long since matured into a legend itself. With its unmistakable roof design, which earned it its nickname, it is one of the Mercedes classics with the highest level of recognition and awareness. Regardless of the engine version, the classic with the star is popular with classic car fans and symbolizes an era in which a Mercedes-Benz was still something very special. Even today, the W113 series would be the ideal cast for a movie car in any romantic comedy in which a classic car is supposed to play the leading role. This vehicle, which we are introducing to you today, and which is a European version, made it across the pond to South America.

Lovingly restored classic car!

And now it is for sale in a suburb of the Brazilian metropolis of São Paulo. The price called up is 650.000 Brazilian reals, which is roughly 100.000 euros at the current exchange rate. And it stands there as if it had just rolled out of the Mercedes-Benz factory. The baby is already 56 years old.

He has been said to have been a total of 20.777 kilometers since his restoration and it is undoubtedly one of the classics that are worth preserving and that we would still like to admire on the street or in the showrooms of luxury car dealers even after the electrification of the automobile. It goes without saying that you don't tinker with the body of such a classic, but leave it as true to the original as possible. Wild Restomod tuning on the exterior would probably cause the value to tumble significantly into the cellar, since it is in a condition that is worth preserving, for example in Germany to preserve a H mark leads, loses.

In Brazil there is something like an H-plate, namely a black one Collectible license plate, for which the car also qualifies. With a Mercedes like that, even one hydraulic power steering got donated, as well as one electrically extendable antenna, as a car fan you feel transported back to a time that you may not have even experienced yourself.

Classic interior with air conditioning!

Within the restoration Care was taken to ensure that the flair of the 60s was retained in the vehicle. Only one Air conditioning from Vintage Air found its way into classic Swabia. The saddle brown Manager, which can be found not only on the seats, but also on the cockpit, looks classy and inviting. Unfortunately, the long lever of the Five-speed manual transmission doesn't really fit, because it looks like it's coming from a commercial vehicle.

2,8 liter R6 suction gasoline

The original 2,3 liter petrol engine had to give way to a more powerful engine. Well done a 2,8 liter suction gasoline, which generates 170 hp, its service in this pagoda. The engine comes from one 280SL, a model that was only introduced in 1968 and is therefore the successor to the 1967SL, which was built until 230. The maximum torque for this time is proud 240 Newton meter, with which you can ride in traffic even today. Due to its perfect condition, however, it is not advisable to explore the limits of the car, because in the event of an accident, a piece of cultural property would suddenly become just a pile of junk.
