Whether as a notchback sedan (V177) or a five-door compact sedan (W177), the current A-Class from Mercedes-Benz has moved away from its old Biedermeier image and has long since become a sporty and attractive vehicle. For all models of the notchback sedan, from the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC to the A 250 e plug-in hybrid to the A180, the suspension manufacturer KW automotive has coilovers with spring struts made of stainless steel in its delivery program. It doesn't matter whether it's a V177 sedan with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. While the KW Clubsport coilover kit (from 35 euros) is available for the sporty Mercedes-AMG A4 3MATIC sedan in addition to the KW coilover kit variant 2.099 (from 2.749 euros), the KW coilover kit variant 1 (from 1.279 euros) is also available for all other engines ) available. The chassis, which are available with a parts certificate, allow a maximum lowering of 10 to 30 millimeters for the AMG A35 4MATIC sedan or 45 to 75 millimeters for the A 250 e plug-in hybrid and 30 to 50 millimeters for the A180. KW coilovers are available for numerous vehicles and offer much more than just the option of maximum lowering as part of the parts certificate. All chassis developed by the Swabian chassis manufacturer KW automotive increase the driving dynamics in connection with a convincing ride comfort. The owner-managed company produces height-adjustable sports suspensions for more and more accessory programs from various automobile manufacturers. Limited special models, sports cars and racing cars such as the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series, Mercedes-AMG GT-R Pro or the Mercedes-AMG GT4 touring car are already equipped with the technology of the adjustable KW coilovers ex works.

Leader: KW coilover kit variant 3

Since its market launch, the KW coilover kit Variant 3, which is available for numerous vehicles, has become the best-selling coilover kit for the chassis manufacturer. The possibility of adjusting the suspension characteristics of the suspension to be sportier or more comfortable and to freely choose a stepless lowering is what makes it so popular. Added to this is KW automotive's tuning philosophy of always designing a chassis for the road as tight as necessary and as comfortable as possible. If a Mercedes-Benz A-Class (V3) lowered with a KW coilover kit variant 177 is driven on a poorly developed secondary route, the KW coilover kit dampens these shocks precisely and quickly.

“That a coilover kit can increase driving comfort despite lowering it always surprises many,” says KW Brand Manager Jonas Ehrmann. “Many always believe that a rock-hard chassis would be sporty; But that's not the case. Basically, the main task of the chassis is that the tires are always in contact with the road. If a chassis is too tight, the tires lose grip. No grip, no traction, no safety and no progress. ”With variant 3, the rebound forces can be fine-tuned with 16 precise clicks for more comfortable or, if desired, tighter handling. The pressure level can also be set in variant 3. "The job of the compression stage is basically to support the body structure and to control the compression of the spring and damper," explains Jonas Ehrmann. Depending on the setting, the pressure level can be used to influence the rolling movements and steering behavior. While with the KW variant 3, the low-speed pressure level (piston rod speed) can be set individually with twelve click levels; the high-speed pressure stage valves, which are responsible for driving comfort, are pre-configured and cannot be adjusted any further.

Wheels do not skip on bumps

In the case of high vertical accelerations, such as those that occur when driving over bumps or cross joints, the so-called high-speed compression valves open and the wheels spring in. “So to speak, the wheels no longer skip on bumps and the tires constantly maintain contact with the road. The whole thing is supported by the fact that we use progressive suspension springs. Anyone who opts for a KW coilover kit always receives a vehicle-specific complete solution that we have perfected in numerous driving tests for everyday use. ”Alternatively, in addition to the KW coilover kit variant 3, depending on the engine of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class notchback sedan, the KW Variant 1 coilover kit as well as the KW Clubsport coilover kits available
