Lifestyle update for the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupé

The globally successful AMG GT 4-Door Coupé is now even more individual and thus strengthens its position as the perfect automotive companion for all life situations. An exclusive edition underlines the diverse character of the four-door sports car. In addition, there is an expanded selection of wheels, upholstery covers, trim parts, exterior colors and a newly tuned chassis with an even greater spread between sportiness and comfort. Thanks to an extensive update last summer, the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé is already technologically up to date. The new features include updated driver assistance systems and the standard widescreen cockpit including the MBUX multimedia system with AMG-specific displays and functions. The 6-cylinder variants, which will be available from European dealers as early as August, kick off the new models.

The third complete vehicle developed by Mercedes-AMG is an ongoing success story. The AMG GT 4-Door Coupé has attracted new customer groups and a lot of sympathy for the brand. It combines the highest driving dynamics of the AMG GT sports car with increased suitability for everyday use thanks to four doors and space for up to five passengers.

The elaborate air suspension, the active rear-axle steering, the fully variable all-wheel drive and the modern overall concept inspire customers all over the world. As the record holder with the best time on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, it is also clear that technology and fine-tuning are at the highest level and set benchmarks in the segment. In the interior, too, the series has set the standards even higher with the high-quality and precise design of all surfaces and components, the innovative display controls, the steering wheel buttons and the numerous seat and equipment configurations.

further attractive options

The series has already offered an impressive range of customization options in the segment - from three seat configurations in the rear to a selection of equipment packages and AMG-specific individual options. Now there are more attractive options available.

Lifestyle update for the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupé

“We keep our AMG GT 4-Door Coupé at an outstanding technical level. With the current update and the exclusive edition, we are addressing the target groups who attach great importance to individuality and an expressive lifestyle. We are thus further developing our profile to become a “Performance Luxury” brand and are also proving this with customized products and options. In addition, we will soon be presenting our first E PERFORMANCE hybrid in this model, thus advancing the electrification of the drive train, ”said Philipp Schiemer, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

The design of the six-cylinder versions remains unchanged, but the front view can optionally be matched to the look of the eight-cylinder models.

There are three new exterior colors for all models: spectral blue metallic, spectral blue magno (matt lacquer) and cashmere white magno (matt lacquer). A total of five matt lacquers, five metallic tones and two solid colors are now available. The new AMG Night Package II ensures an even more sporty, accentuated appearance. The vertical slats in the AMG-specific radiator grille are designed in dark chrome. At the rear, the AMG logo, Mercedes star and type designation in black add striking accents. The same applies to the lettering on the front fenders. The combination of the Night Package and the Carbon Package is also new.

Even more comfort and sportiness thanks to the new adjustable damping with two valves

The newly tuned AMG RIDE CONTROL + suspension is still based on multi-chamber air suspension, combined with an adaptive, electronically controlled damping adjustment. This damping system is completely new: For the first time, two so-called pressure relief valves are used. With the help of these infinitely variable control valves attached outside of the damper, the damping force can be adapted even more precisely to different driving conditions and the driving programs: One valve controls the rebound stage, i.e. the force that arises when the wheel rebounds, and the other the compression stage when the wheel compresses . The rebound and compression levels are regulated independently of one another. This technology makes it possible on the one hand to increase comfort, but on the other hand to make the driving dynamics even sportier. As a result, the passengers are almost completely shielded from uneven road surfaces. The body nevertheless remains as stabilized as possible.

The chassis control unit uses data analysis - including from acceleration and wheel travel sensors - to adjust the damping force for each wheel in a matter of milliseconds, depending on the situation. The AMG developers were able to significantly widen the spread between sportiness and comfort, among other things by expanding the minimum and maximum damping force characteristic curve as well as even greater flexibility in the design of the map. By using the two adjusting valves, the damper is able to guarantee the damping force adjustment in all areas of the wheel vibrations. Due to the special design of the valves, the damper reacts quickly and sensitively to changes in road surfaces and driving conditions.

The driver can pre-select the basic set-up using the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs: at the push of a button, the driving behavior changes, for example, from full dynamism in the “Sport +” mode to smooth gliding in the “Comfort” setting. In addition, the coordination can be adjusted in three stages via a dedicated button, regardless of the driving programs.

As further new hardware components, the chassis received new subframe bearings, head bearings, outer thrust strut bearings, inner and outer tension strut bearings on the rear axle. This package specifically reduces the rigidity of the bearing. In addition, there are the new, asymmetrical tension strut bearings on the front axle with different stiffnesses in different effective areas. This measure also allows more longitudinal flexibility without losing precision and feedback in the steering.

In addition, an even larger selection of AMG wheels is now available to customers. These include new 20-inch light-alloy wheels in a 10-double-spoke design or very filigree, sporty 21-inch forged wheels in a 5-double-spoke design. On request, red-painted brake calipers can now also be ordered for the 6-cylinder models.

Larger selection of interior equipment

The interior update also focuses on an even greater degree of personal choice. New colors emphasize either the sporty or the luxurious side of the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé - for example the new combination of Exclusive Nappa leather, titanium gray pearl / black with contrasting topstitching in yellow, or fine Exclusive Nappa leather tartufo / black with STYLE design (diamond pattern). In addition to the popular two-tone seats, five other colors in exclusive nappa STYLE leather extend the interior portfolio: sienna brown, classic red, yacht blue, deep white and Neva gray. The front and rear seats are completely monochrome in the respective equipment color, as are the armrests in the doors and the steering wheel rim. Floor mats with leather edging in a matching color and embroidered AMG logo complete the classy manufactory character.

New AMG performance steering wheel in double-spoke design

The redesigned AMG performance steering wheel also offers tangible and visible added value. With the distinctive double-spoke design and seamlessly integrated buttons. The three rounded double spokes combine stability with lightness. The steering wheel rim, which is flattened at the bottom and is covered in nappa leather or nappa leather / DINAMICA microfiber, can optionally be heated. In addition, a sensor mat for recognizing "hands-on" is included. If the driver does not keep their hands on the steering wheel for a certain period of time, a warning cascade is started which, if the driver continues to be inactive, activates the emergency stop assistant.

Optical highlights are the buttons that are seamlessly integrated into the surfaces of the horizontal double spokes. Haptic sensing aids in the area of the symbols facilitate operation. The instrument cluster is operated via the left sensor surface of the upper steering wheel spokes and the media display is operated via the right sensor surface. The lower spokes contain the controls for cruise control / DISTRONIC (left) and telephone / speakerphone / volume control (right).

The standard AMG steering wheel buttons have been given even more brilliant displays with new icons and are now both round. With this new look, important driving functions and the driving programs can be controlled as usual without having to take your hands off the steering wheel. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission can be shifted by hand using the aluminum shift paddles located on the left and right behind the steering wheel rim. The paddles have become larger for even more precise switching commands and are positioned further down.

Customers can also choose from a wide range of decorative parts. The optional equipment with open-pored wood in anthracite for the instrument panel and the door panels as well as the center console, where it is combined with an edging made of silver shadow, underlines both the sporty and the luxurious side of the 4-door sports car.

Luxury for individualists: Edition model with extensive equipment package

An exclusive edition model emphasizes the luxurious side of the AMG GT 4-door Coupé. It is available for all engine variants and combined with the V8 styling package as standard. The exclusive paintwork in the dark rubello red gemstone color shows self-confident extravagance, which harmonizes perfectly with the exterior package in high-gloss chrome and the new, 21-inch AMG forged wheels in 5-twin-spoke design, painted silver and with a high-sheen finish. The standard light show rounds off the lifestyle character of the exterior.

The optional panorama roof lets a lot of light into the interior, which is clad in the new exclusive nappa leather trim in Neva gray. The AMG performance steering wheel is made in nappa leather, Neva gray / black. New open-pored wood trim in gray ash, the door sill trims illuminated in the vehicle color and the AMG Edition badge on the dashboard underline the luxurious overall impression.
