Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series: Limited Edition, Unlimited Performance!

It is the most powerful customer sport vehicle ever developed by Mercedes-AMG: the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series, designed for use at track days and club sport events. With the exclusive special edition, the motorsport department of Mercedes‑AMG is celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Affalterbach-based company in a very special way. Limited to 55 units, the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series builds a mental bridge to the AMG founders Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher and their credo of making the best even better. The result is an uncompromising and exclusive performance vehicle that uniquely reflects the automotive design artistry of Mercedes-AMG.

Mercedes AMG GT Track Series

  • New Mercedes‑AMG GT Track Series limited to 55 units
  • Most powerful customer sport vehicle ever developed by Mercedes‑AMG
  • Expansion of the AMG portfolio with an exclusive product for track days and club sport events

The Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series enriches GT history with a new iconic model. The legendary top performer Mercedes‑AMG GT Black Series served as the basis for development. Like the latter, the GT Track Series is also defined by its vehicle concept geared towards maximum performance and combines this with the racetrack-proven properties of the GT3 and GT4 models. The high level of exclusivity of the GT Track Series, which cannot be approved for road traffic, is underscored by numerous technical and visual unique selling points.

Fascinating range of services

The heart of the Mercedes‑AMG GT Track Series is the 4,0‑litre V8 biturbo engine from the Mercedes‑AMG GT Black Series, whose impressive performance data the engineers from Affalterbach have once again improved. The unit, which is equipped with a flat crankshaft, now delivers 580 kW (734 hp) and a maximum torque of 850 Nm thanks to special motorsport injectors and a specific engine application. The Hewland HLS 6-speed sequential racing transmission with adjustable differential sends the power to the rear wheels. As with all models in the GT family, it is mounted in a transaxle design on the rear axle and connected to the engine via a carbon fiber torque tube so that it is torsionally and torque-resistant.

The chassis of the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series features fully configurable four-way dampers from Bilstein. As is usual in racing, they each offer a high-speed and a low-speed setting in rebound and compression and also allow the vehicle height to be adjusted. The anti-roll bars are also adjustable to ensure an individual vehicle set-up. In combination with the basic vehicle concept, these high-performance components ensure highly precise handling with clear feedback. As a result, drivers of all skill levels, whether racing professionals or gentlemen drivers, quickly build up confidence in the vehicle.

Optimized aerodynamics paired with powerful design

The design and aerodynamics of the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series also strictly follow the performance concept. The bonnet, fenders, side skirts, tailgate and rear apron are made of carbon fiber and contribute significantly to the high driving dynamics. The integrated louvers of the carbon fenders on the front axle ensure increased downforce. The side skirts with elements made of black visible carbon, which merge into vertical blades at the front and rear, contribute to the optimal flow around the vehicle. To ensure effective cooling of the rear brakes, the rocker panels also have cooling air ducts. The rear apron with double diffuser and side wheel arch ventilation also underscores the racing genes of the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series.

The front of the exclusive model is dominated by the large AMG-specific radiator grille, which ensures an optimal flow of air onto the radiator. The high-downforce front splitter was specially developed for the GT Track Series. The multi-mechanically adjustable rear wing is tailored to this. This is based on the aero element of the GT Black Series, but has been further developed to further improve downforce on the rear axle. A direct derivation from motorsport is also the exclusive, distinctive carbon bonnet with a large exhaust air opening. It directs the warm air to the outside directly after the cooler package. This increases the overall downforce and at the same time optimizes the cooling of the engine.

The gloss-milled 18-inch forged wheels were also specially developed for the Mercedes‑AMG GT Track Series – the standard rim size for GT racing vehicles. All common racing tire types can be used on the exclusive rims. A particular visual highlight is the exclusive satin-matt special paintwork in MANUFAKTUR high-tech silver magno with design elements in red and anthracite. And the integration of the AMG crest in the upper area of the front apron also underscores the exclusivity of this GT model.

Extensive safety package and motorsport-specific interior

As in the GT3 and GT4, user-friendly and service-friendly racing electronics are also used in the GT Track Series. These include racing-specific traction control and motorsport ABS, each of which can be set to one of 12 levels (level 1: maximum TC/ABS activity; level 11: minimum TC/ABS activity; level 12: off position). The brake components have also been tried and tested in motorsport. The GT Track Series relies on steel brake discs with a diameter of 390 mm on the front axle and 355 mm on the rear axle. The brake balance between the front and rear axles can be adjusted using a balance beam system. The carbon brake air scoops and the dimensionally stable brake air hoses guarantee optimal cooling of the performance brake system.

The safety concept tried and tested in the GT3 and GT4 racing family is used in the vehicle interior: the roll cage made of high-strength steel is bolted to the aluminum space frame, and there is a rescue hatch in the roof. The carbon driving safety cell is generously dimensioned and offers sufficient freedom of movement even for tall drivers. It also has a 6-point safety belt and customizable ergonomic seat foam. The driving safety cell thus corresponds to the latest FIA standard and offers a much higher level of protection than conventional racing seats. The comprehensive safety concept of the GT Track Series is completed by a powerful motorsport fire extinguishing system and driver safety nets.

When designing the interior, the engineers at Mercedes-AMG attached particular importance to the purpose of the vehicle: the GT Track Series was designed purely as a motorsport vehicle and accordingly dispensed with comfort elements of any kind. In order to achieve the weight of 1400 kg, components were sought such as insulating materials, interior paneling or electric windows in vain.

The steering wheel, developed exclusively for the GT Track Series in cooperation with the sim racing experts from Cube Controls, has a wide adjustment range and numerous operating options. The pedals are also configurable and can be individually adapted to the physique of the pilot. A fully programmable BOSCH DDU 11 display system is integrated into the visible carbon instrument panel with a matt finish, which is designed for intuitive operation and user-friendliness. It also has an extensive data acquisition system for motorsport applications, such as a lap trigger for measuring lap times. The GT Track Series is one of the first vehicles ever to be equipped with the newly developed system.

55 years of Mercedes‑AMG – 55 Mercedes‑AMG GT Track Series

The Mercedes‑AMG GT Track Series stands for maximum exclusivity. The special edition is limited to 55 copies. Each one is built by hand in Affalterbach. A high-quality embossed "1 of 55" badge in the interior identifies each Mercedes‑AMG GT Track Series as a unique special edition. With this, Mercedes‑AMG commemorates the founding of the company by Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in 1967 – exactly 55 years ago. The embroidered "Track Series" lettering on the driver's seat and on the limited car cover also indicate the exclusivity of the GT Track Series.

Comprehensive service and support included

Owners of the Mercedes‑AMG GT Track Series benefit from a comprehensive range of services and support that is continuously being developed and expanded. This also includes privileges that are otherwise reserved exclusively for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport customer teams: technical training before the vehicle is delivered, individual engineering support on track days and club sport assignments on request, a service hotline on race weekends and logistical services such as an optimal supply of spare parts. Technical support is provided by the motorsport experts at HWA AG, which carries out maintenance and overhauls as a development and production partner of Mercedes‑AMG. Accessories and spare parts can be ordered and all technical documents made available via the exclusive online ordering and information system “Customer Service Portal”.

Christoph Sagemüller, Head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport: “Everything about the GT Track Series is subordinate to the performance idea, which has been the dominant leitmotif in the design of our vehicles since Mercedes-AMG was founded 55 years ago. Our customers want the right vehicle for every type of application. So it made sense to add a Clubsport vehicle to our portfolio. But as AMG, we have gone one step further and not only offer our customers an outstanding driving machine with excellent performance and quality, but also a strictly limited special model.”

Stefan Wendl, Head of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing: "When developing the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series, we set ourselves the ambitious goal of being able to offer ambitious motorsport customers a sophisticated and highly exclusive track tool. Our engineers and motorsport experts have achieved this in an impressive manner. I'm really looking forward to setting new personal bests on the world's racetracks with the GT Track Series in the hands of customers."
