Forget the widebody kits from STRENGTH, Prior Design or Mansory, here comes the IMSA RXR (Road X-tra Racing) ONE! A monster that was completely rebuilt from carbon and whose V8 biturbo sends insane 860 PS and over 1000 NM torque to the 315 rear wheels. At the last IAA in Frankfurt, the IMSA RXR ONE was one of the most powerful and extensively modified vehicles ever. The basis is the AMG GTS from Mercedes, which has mutated into a completely new car after the conversion.
IMSA immediately announced that the RXR One is limited to a small number of units that we did not know before and whoever would like to own the 1296 kg Coupe should contact IMSA as soon as possible. The AMG GTS makes a powerful impression right from the factory. 4.0L V8 Biturbo, 522PS and an acceleration of only 3,8 seconds to 100 km / h. But after the renovation, nothing is like it was before. The RXR ONE basically only keeps the chassis, because IMSA exchanges all attachments and parts that are not crash-relevant for carbon parts. The result is a weight reduction of over 300 kg, which of course is an announcement. The highlight is also the completely closed underbody as it is, for example, on current DTM vehicles.
In addition, there was a fixed rear spoiler and a new front and rear spoiler. The components ensure that the CW value (air resistance) is lower when accelerating compared to the series, which in turn means that higher speeds and cornering are possible because the RXR One generates significantly more contact pressure. The new fenders are 55mm wider at the front and 65mm at the rear than the series. There are also side skirts with ventilation openings, a front bumper with openings for the radiator, a bonnet with intake funnel for cooling the turbos, ventilation openings on the wheel arches, a massive diffuser, an adjustable front splitter and, finally, the huge adjustable rear wing.
The chassis of the RXR ONE consists of a fully adjustable coilover kit including new axle parts which, in conjunction with specially designed aluminum forged rims, makes contact with the road. The new Alu's (12.0Jx20 & 12.5Jx21) are equipped with tires from Pirelli (305 / 30ZR20 & 315 / 30ZR21) which were developed in cooperation with IMSA and are of the Semislick type (P Zero Trofeo R). The Pirelli P Zero Corsa is also available for the road. The RXR is supposed to combine the performance of a mid-engine super sports car with the weight balance of a rear-wheel drive front-mid-engine GT and at this sight we believe it immediately.
By the way, IMSA guarantees that every buyer has a unique item through various exterior paintwork and interior fittings. The hammer is clearly the increase in performance of the AMG M178 4,0l V8 biturbo engine which with 860 PS & over 1.000 NM now enables a power-to-weight ratio of around 1,5KG / PS. In order to achieve the power, the engine was fundamentally revised. There was a machined crankshaft, new forged pistons and connecting rods, machined ducts in the cylinder heads, a new intake system, larger turbochargers, newly developed intercoolers, and an exhaust system that reduces back pressure.
The system is made of Inconel and also helps to save weight, even though it has larger dimensions and sports catalysts. The transmission has also been revised so that the power reaches the wheels permanently. There were two additional clutch plates, a forged input shaft and its own oil cooler. In the interior there was a roll bar and carbon bucket seats with 6-point belts. A unique project that we hope to see soon on a racetrack.
