What good is it to the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG 6.2 V8 W211 whose M156 engine was the first in the world at the time to have cylinder liners coated with wire arc sprayers (LDS) if it simply does not perform well. If you were able to get one or the other horsepower willingly out of the predecessor, with a 476PS strong V8 compressor, by means of chip tuning, the whole thing is of course much more difficult with a vacuum cleaner. And the team from Shiftech Lyon now had such a facelift model with an M156 naturally aspirated engine on site. After a performance measurement it turned out that the Benz could not exceed 459PS & 569NM torque which is significantly less than expected. After all, Mercedes promises a whopping 514PS and 630NM torque from the factory!

A shame, and a disgrace to the pre-facelift model. Fortunately, you can also achieve a lot here with chip tuning. Shiftech posted a successful increase in performance to 506PS and 621NM torque on its site! To be honest, I can't imagine that this was only achieved using chip tuning. It is well known that a naturally aspirated engine can only be persuaded to perform better by changing the software. So we assume that the hardware has been modified accordingly, but we are lacking more detailed information. If we get the missing information, there is of course, as always, an update for this post. The best thing is to subscribe to our feed and if there is something new you will be informed immediately. We hope you enjoy looking at the photos.

These are the changes to the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG 6.2 V8 W211:

  • Performance increase from measured 459PS & 569NM to 506PS & 621NM - (chip tuning etc.!?)
  • possibly a sports exhaust system (more information is not available)

We still have many thousands more photo stories on tuningblog.eu, if you wanted to see an excerpt then just click HERE. And we also have a few other vehicles from Shiftech, the following is a small excerpt:
