The Mercedes S65 AMG as long version is probably the ultimate S-Class. Unfortunately, with 6,0 liters of 12 cylinders, he is also a dying breed and looks a bit like a dinosaur. This is underpinned by the fact that Mercedes has just recently introduced the special model Mercedes-AMG S 65 Final Edition at the Geneva Motor Show 2019 and thus virtually buried the V12. A V12 will probably never exist again in the S-Class. Considering the AMG S 63 4MATIC + with 18 PS less than a second faster on 100 km / h speeds up however somehow also comprehensible. By the way, the brand new limited edition V12 model is an incredible 77.000 € more expensive than the 612 PS strong 63er.

If you add almost € 8.000 on top, you get a new S350d. Does the 20-inch multi-spoke wheels and air intake grille in bronze matt, copper-colored contrasting topstitching on the inside and an edition badge "1 of 130" in the center console justify it? We dare to doubt it! The customer of the South African tuner Race! South Africa is as convinced of the V12 as Mercedes of the S 65 FINAL EDITION. He has therefore indulged in a S65 AMG L and made for a comprehensive tuning to Johannesburg. The vehicle is a VorFacelift copy of what one recognizes, for example, the lack of multi-beam LED headlights and taillights with other lighting graphics. The S65 AMG received a complete Brabus body kit that convinces with classy carbon fiber components.

Side Flaps right and left on the front spoiler

That is to say, the striking front apron with the silver grilles receives a front spoiler with indicated wings on the right and left and something has also happened at the rear. Here the Stuttgart got a rear apron insert in diffuser optics with a central LED rear fog light. This includes high-quality tailpipes of a BRABUS sports exhaust system made entirely of stainless steel. It comes with exhaust flaps and electronically controlled sound management. There was also a small carbon spoiler lip and Brabus emblems instead of the Mercedes stars. In any case, the visual highlight is the Brabus Monoblock Y forged wheel set in 21 inches. The standard air suspension is controlled electronically (possibly BRABUS lowering module for lowering by approx. 15 millimeters) slightly deflated so that the new rims sit much better fitting in the wheel arches.

subtle lowering by approx. 15-20 millimeters

There were also small details such as the carbon mirror caps, darkened reflectors in the rear apron or even that covered with foil in the carbon-look roof that impressively rounds off the visual appearance. No information is available regarding changes in the interior or the performance of the S65L. Here, too, Brabus has a lot of goodies in store. In addition to a high-quality BRABUS fine leather interior equipment would be there by the way a performance increase on maximum 800 PS by means of BRABUS PowerXtra additional control unit as well as some changes to the hardware. We hope that we will get some more information. Should it be so far there is of course as always an update for this report.
