Limited to 999 units: fully electric MINI Cooper SE Cabrio!

After the positive feedback on the one-off in the summer of 2022, MINI is now going with a small series of the all-electric MINI Cooper SE Cabrio (combined power consumption: 17,2 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) another big step towards electric mobility. The world's first locally emission-free premium convertible in the small car segment shortens the transition to the all-electric model family of the next generation. From April 2023, the MINI Cooper SE Convertible will be available in Europe in a limited number of 999 vehicles.

MINI Cooper SE Convertible

“Three years ago we launched the all-electric MINI Cooper SE, and today every fifth MINI sold in Europe is an all-electric MINI. This success inspired us to implement the small series of the MINI Cooper SE Cabrio within a few months. I am delighted that we can offer 999 MINI customers an extraordinary and exclusive open-air go-kart feeling,” says Stefanie Wurst, head of the MINI brand.

The MINI Cooper SE Cabrio is available in the colors Enigmatic Black and White Silver. Door handles, side scuttles and the bezels of the front and rear lights are finished in Resolute Bronze. The MINI logos and the model lettering are in elegant Piano Black to match. The E logo, familiar from the MINI Cooper SE, can be found on the front apron and on the rear and underlines the locally emission-free driving pleasure in the design. Other edition-specific equipment details also adorn the door sills and side scuttles and emphasize the exclusive character of the limited open-air MINI with the lettering 1 of 999.

MINI takes on a pioneering role with the edition-specific alloy wheels. The 17" light alloy cast wheels in the Electric Power Spoke 2-tone design are made of 100% secondary aluminium. The combination of green electricity in production and the use of secondary raw materials can significantly reduce CO₂ emissions compared to conventional manufacturing processes.

Extensive interior appointments with MINI Electric design features.

The sports seats are designed in MINI Yours Leather Lounge and offer seat heating and an adjustable thigh support. The multifunctional sports leather steering wheel in nappa leather contributes to the driving fun atmosphere and the stylish driving comfort and can be heated. In the lower spoke of the steering wheel, the MINI Electric Badge refers to the limited character of the all-electric convertible. The noble surfaces in piano black, which can be stylishly staged with the ambient lighting, also contribute to the exclusivity. The design of the interior emphasizes the fully electric character of the open four-seater with yellow color accents, such as the yellow start-stop toggle switch.

The high-quality equipment in the cockpit is supplemented by the eDrive services known from the MINI Cooper SE, in addition to numerous other equipment items. This gives the driver information about the current energy consumption, the range and tips for an economical driving style. All essential information is summarized on the MINI head-up display while driving. On longer journeys, features such as Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function and the MINI Driving Assistant as standard increase the comfort of the limited-edition MINI Convertible with all-electric drive.

Pure electrified go-kart feeling.

With a length of 3.850 mm, a wheelbase of 2.495 mm, a width of 1.727 mm and a height of 1.427 mm, the dimensions, including the luggage compartment with a loading volume of 160 l, remain the same as in the conventionally powered MINI Convertible. The 135 kW/184 hp electric motor comes from the BMW Group's competence centers for electromobility in Dingolfing and Landshut. Its small size enables particularly harmonious axle load distribution and favors agile and easily controllable handling. The electric drive accelerates the MINI Cooper SE Convertible continuously from zero to 8,2 km/h in 100 seconds.

With a range of 201 kilometers determined in the WLTP test cycle, open-air trips well beyond the city limits are possible. The fully electrically driven and therefore particularly quiet textile top in MINI Yours style with the typical Union Jack pattern can be opened, closed or set up as a sunroof at speeds of up to 30 km/h.

From idea carrier to small series.

  • With the MINI Cooper SE Convertible, MINI is demonstrating its flexibility and establishing the production of a small series for the first time. The MINI Cooper SE Convertible is produced in a limited edition of 999 vehicles alongside the conventional MINI Convertible in the Netherlands.
