The great stranger: Mitsubishi Galant AMG (E30)!

We have found an AMG that hardly anyone knows. Namely the 177 hp Mitsubishi Galant AMG (Type II)! This is from a time when AMG was not yet part of Mercedes. At that time, AMG also accepted tuning orders from other manufacturers. And one of those manufacturers was Mitsubishi. And not for the first time. Because there was already one with Japanese genes Mitsubishi Debonair V3000 AMG Royal, which was virtually the predecessor of the 90s Galant E30. They only had the Mitsubishi Galant AMG 30 minutes built and all vehicles were manufactured exclusively for the Japanese market and sold from October 1989 to December 1990. Visually, the limo got a different one radiator grill, there were AMG rimsNew side skirts and one rear spoiler. The standard chassis of the Galant swaps AMG for one with Gas pressure shock absorbers and sport springs, but the real highlight was hidden under the hood. Because AMG had the 2-liter big one naturally aspirated pre-buttoned.

He got sharper camshaftsNew elbow (Intake and exhaust manifolds), new Piston and even valve springs made of titanium and hollow rocker arm. And the engine management was also intervened. The tuning ultimately resulted in 170 instead of the standard 144 hp. The power went to the front wheels either via a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic, and the sprint went off with full traction 0 to 100 km / h in around 8 seconds across the stage. If it is a production vehicle without tuning, then small emblems in the radiator grille and on the trunk lid indicate the AMG model. In the case of tuned vehicles, however, this was often removed. If we get more information about the changes at that time, there will of course be an update for this report. You will be informed of this if you simply take ours Feed subscribe to. His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
