More value through vehicle tuning?

Is tuning actually useful, senseless or meaningless in terms of sales? In a tuned car, money was inevitably invested, what happens to the money when the car is to be sold, is the amount on top of it, or as a percentage, or possibly even lowers the vehicle value? We try to explain to you what is important for the sale of your tuned vehicle.

  • Appraisals, can have a positive impact because you can convey to the potential buyer what the actual value of the car is, he has to pay the amount but therefore not long ago.
  • Tuning that cannot be retrofitted is usually only considered for absolute tuning fans, again such a buyer prefers to tune his car himself and prefers to buy a series vehicle with a good history
  • the decisive factor is: what has been rebuilt on the desired vehicle and how, of course, by whom? A remodeling of a Brabus is of course more popular than a self-tuned car that was assembled with various tuning parts
  • a discount can even be made when purchasing. Why? The reason is simple: All modifications lead to an intervention in the car and can, under certain circumstances, have major changes in the technology and electronics of the car. As a commercial seller, however, when reselling such a vehicle you will see that the technology and electronics will work (reason: liability for material defects)
  • Private sales are usually in demand and more likely to be recommended (time and patience for sales to private are of course to be considered)

How is the value of a car calculated?

  • different / individual factors
  • general condition of the car (paintwork, interior, wheels, rims)
  • mileage
  • Image of type
  • Additional equipment
  • Suitability for everyday use (tuning measures may restrict this)
  • Demand of the car type
  • Accidental damage (whether fixed or not)

The buyer of the tuned car may put forward the following points as arguments:

  • Lowering may have caused damage under the car
  • Axle parts are loaded higher (extreme fall etc.)

That can preserve the value of the car, despite tuning.

  • without exception, all tuning measures must be retrofittable (wheels and chassis make a visual difference and can be easily retrofitted)
  • Vehicle wrapping instead of painting (can add value because the original paint is protected)
  • use replaceable vehicle attachments, for example: bumpers, side skirts, spoilers, rear aprons which are attached to the original mountings)
  • Seats, etc. can be exchanged if the original of course be repealed (can increase value, as the original seats are spared)
  • Engine tuning possibly by means of tuning box, this is removable. Nevertheless, the engine has been exposed to higher loads and the sale must be noted.

The value of the car is thus maintained or increased by:

  • First-class accessories from well-known tuners
  • Keep original parts and store in a safe place
  • Safety and TÜV conformity are extremely important
  • Avoid bodywork as much as possible
  • Frame cuts / welded cathedrals etc. are a NoGo
  • Vehicle preparation before the sale
  • Avoid smoking or eating as much as possible
  • Garage parking positive
  • Maintenance at the dealer
  • In summary, one can say that tuning and value retention are quite feasible. Taking into account the tips above!
