Morgan, the quintessential British carmaker known for its purist, classic-style roadsters, is refreshing its model range. The well-known types Plus Four and Plus Six receive modifications and additional features. This brings modern comfort and safety features to the classics that you never thought would be found in a Morgan. We would now like to introduce the two revised models to you.
Morgan models for tomorrow!
Both received new goodies, which unfortunately falsify the original sense of purism. For example, both now come standard with ESP, a glove compartment and even a cup holder. Airbags for the driver and front passenger are now standard in both the Plus Four and Plus Six. Surprisingly, the Plus Four's body lost some width despite having wider tires. The Plus Six, on the other hand, increased in order to be even more solid on the road.
In addition, there were revised springs and dampers for both, which means that they can improve in terms of handling and cornering performance. From now on there are six different specification areas, which should contribute to individualization. These areas are called: "Nordic", "Britannia", "Riviera", "Stateside", "Alpine" and "Urban". There are also 2023 different design packages with individual stickers, rally stripes and other features for the 12 model range.
The interior has also been revised!
In addition to airbags for the driver and front passenger and a glove compartment, there was also a larger central display for the pilot. Both are also available with a modern eight-speaker audio system. The operation of the vehicle remained almost the same as its predecessor and that is commendable, because such a classic in automotive history should not be changed too much.
Four and six cylinder petrol engines are available!
As the name suggests, the Plus Four comes with a 2-liter four-cylinder powerplant, while its bigger brother sports a six-cylinder petrol engine under the bow. Both units are turbocharged and deliver 255 and 335 hp respectively. Torque ranges from 350 Newton meters for the manual Plus Four to 500 Newton meters for the Plus Six, which is only available with an automatic transmission. If you choose the optional automatic transmission for the Plus Four, the maximum torque increases to 400 Newton meters.
Incidentally, both have rear-wheel drive and the driving performance should be on par with that of a super sports car. Our conclusion: Nice to see that such icons of automotive engineering are not dying out. With the right ingredients, you can still have a lot of fun with a Morgan in the future.
