2019 Mugen RC20GT Honda Civic Type R + Alternative

Already 2018 has tuners Mugen with the Mugen RC20GT Civic Art R Concept caused a lot of sensation. The presentation vehicle, completely designed for racing, split the minds of the Civic fanbase with the extravagant look of the body kit. The one thought it is really cool, but a large part found it really bad. We have counted ourselves to the second genus and since then waited for the announced copy for 2019. And at the last Tokyo Auto Salon the revised version was presented. And what has changed? Nothing apart from a few small cosmetic details. Especially the huge central Audi-comfortable grille has remained.

And at the rear everything is the same. The RC20GT continues to show with a central tailpipe in the huge rear diffuser and there is still the fixed, and particularly high-building, rear spoiler. Only the futuristic carbon rearview mirrors of the 2018er model have disappeared and the interior moves away from the rally ambience again a bit. Here, the 2019 Civic is almost unchanged compared to the series and differs only by the beautiful bucket seats with 5 point sport straps. Incidentally, Mugen still refers to the carbon body kit as Pre-production version What does this mean that no orders will be accepted in this regard?

While there is no chance to emphasize that this body kit kit will bring improvements, especially in terms of aerodynamics, but will that boost sales? We like that second variant the tuner much better. Although this body kit is not finished yet, but it already convinces with a certain style. Some details of the RC20GT are also taken up here, but in the end it is much more pleasant for the eyes. The spoiler for the front bumper hardly differs from the component ex factory and the aperture for the air intakes will probably notice the connoisseur only at second glance.

the second variant of Mugen

Somewhat more striking is the hood attachment for the air intake which is now divided into two parts. There are new side skirts, mirror caps and the biggest difference probably makes the rear apron approach. This is once again more aggressive compared to the series and fittingly there is a sports exhaust system with two large tailpipes instead of the factory three. Incidentally, we find the 20 inch large car wheels really nice. The delicate design with the partially polished surface and the black spokes fits the character of the conversion and looks more pleasing than the RC20GT Civic Art R concept. If we receive timely information on further changes not mentioned before or the launch of one of the kits, there is of course as always an update for this report.
