Citroën My Ami Buggy Concept: For electric adventures

The Citroën My Ami Buggy Concept is an invitation to all fans of independence who can see themselves as adventurers on the streets or beach slopes for the duration of a trip. And an invitation to discover new horizons, have fun and quench your thirst for freedom, leisure and nonconformity. My Ami Buggy Concept offers a recreational vehicle for weekends, holidays by the sea or in the country, which impresses with its practicality. An electrically powered model that moves silently and emission-free and offers the pleasure of electric driving, enhanced by the panoramic roof and the lack of doors to fully immerse yourself in the surroundings.

Citroen My Ami Buggy Concept

“The My Ami Buggy is a concept in line with the philosophy of the Ami that is not a car. So we took inspiration from the world of construction games to encourage fun and functionality, and industrial design to achieve ergonomics and aesthetics, using everyday objects (furniture, lighting, etc.) and fashion accessories (sneakers, sports equipment, glasses etc.).

The simple, extruded shapes of the camera and smartphone mounts were inspired, for example, by the work of designers who created indispensable and timeless everyday objects in the second half of the last century. My Ami Buggy Concept should be functional and simple, in keeping with the iconic and contemporary industrial objects, ”says Samuel Pericles, designer of My Ami Buggy.

DESIGN: UNBINISHED ADVENTURER IN A REAL OFFROAD LOOK

The My Ami Buggy stands securely on its wide off-road wheels and has an adventurous character, which is emphasized at the front and rear by the protective bars, the headlight grilles and the bumpers. The silhouette is reinforced on the sides by redesigned fender flares and tubular guards on the underside of the doors. On the roof, the roof rack and the spare wheel underline the adventurous spirit of the concept. All of these decorative elements are kept in a matt black tone. The LED light bar on the front of the roof gives the concept an additional adventurous touch when it comes to going into the night or in the fog.

The doors have been completely removed and replaced with transparent, rainproof tarpaulins that can be pulled up in bad weather - a reference to the legendary Citroën Méhari. These are provided with zippers to close the passenger compartment. These practical protective curtains can be removed, rolled up and stowed in special storage pockets behind the seats.

A roof hood is attached over the windshield, which extends out of the roof and offers protection against adverse weather conditions. In summer it provides shade and shields the rays of the midday sun. The wide "Mud" tires and their matt gold offset rims ensure good road holding and increased stability on all surfaces.

While it's a creative, unique approach, the designers and engineers have made sure that the concept is both realistic and effective. Attaching certain elements was a real challenge - in some cases they are attached directly to the tubular chassis to make sure they are secure. This applies in particular to the bull bar and the spare wheel on the roof.

COLORS AND MATERIALS CONVEY ADVENTURE

My Ami Buggy Concept comprises a total of three colors: black, khaki and yellow. The black, inspired by the camping equipment, underlines the functional and robust character of the vehicle. The various black tones perfectly complement the anodized khaki and lemon yellow tones and convey an adventurous overall impression that is enhanced by careful details. The two-tone exterior gives the My Ami Buggy Concept a very dynamic design: anodized khaki on the front and speckled black on the rear, an interplay of symmetry that also aims to clearly distinguish the front from the rear of the vehicle.

Many elements of the My Ami Buggy Concept are highlighted by lemon yellow, including the seats, the charging cable, the graphic door attachments as well as the entire luggage compartment and some accessories. This bubbly color also indicates that the highlighted objects serve a functional purpose.

WITH AN EYE FOR DETAIL

Graphic elements and stickers in yellow and black, which take up the Citroën double angle, are repeated on various exterior and interior elements. With the My Ami Buggy Concept, they can be seen on the outside of the hubcaps, the roof cap, the side protection plates, the brackets for the light bar, on the underside of the bumpers and the back of the exterior mirrors and on the inside on the brackets for the accessories, the storage compartments and the dashboard .

On the roof on the driver's side you can see the lettering "Pilot" and on the passenger side the lettering "Co-Pilot", while the number 01 on the driver's seat and number 02 on the front passenger seat to indicate the respective position. Yellow arrow-shaped stickers under the spoiler show the wind direction, a tribute to aviation. A similar decoration can also be found on the wheel arches.

INTERIOR: STYLISH, FUNCTIONAL AND MORE COMFORT

Three areas of the My Ami Buggy Concept are the subject of careful interior design: the seats, the storage space and the luggage compartment. The My Ami Buggy Concept comes with the new Advanced Comfort®-Seat cushions, the foam thickness of which has been increased from 35 mm for the Ami to 70 mm. The addition of memory foam has made the seats light and soft. They can be easily removed from the shell, are interchangeable and washable. The shelves are clever and portable. Each has its own function in the passenger compartment, but can be taken out for a picnic or a trip outside. The storage compartments on the dashboard, which are already available for the Ami, have been specially redesigned for the My Ami Buggy Concept. A matt gold metal frame is attached above the storage compartments, which prevents objects from slipping.

A special range of luggage has been developed that fits perfectly into the interior of the vehicle. The bum bag is attached to a magnet in the middle of the steering wheel, which has been cut out especially for this purpose, and can also be worn on a belt via a loop. A seaman's bag with a flap has its own space under the dashboard, in the storage space that takes a cabin suitcase in the Ami. It is held down by a tubular structure to prevent it from falling over. A storage space is also built in in the entry area at seat height. It can hold all kinds of items or a large detachable bag specially designed for this purpose that can be opened from the inside.

The exterior mirrors, which can be adjusted thanks to a ball joint integrated into the fastening points, are attached to the door posts. They are also removable. The cup or bottle holder is either on the dashboard or in the place that replaces the Ami bag holder. The smartphone holder developed for the Ami and located to the right of the driver's seat becomes a cylindrical design holder with a tensioning wheel on the right side of the My Ami Buggy Concept, which holds the phone in position. A special mount for a camera that can be used to capture and share the highlights or landscapes of the trip is equipped with a universal screw that can accommodate all kinds of devices. The camera holder can be attached to four anchoring points on the vertical frame of the driver and passenger door for a wide variety of perspectives.
