711 PS & forged wheels: Novitec McLaren 620R presented!

With the McLaren 570S GT4, McLaren created a racing car that has been one of the most successful vehicles in GT2017 races around the world since 4. With the 620R, a street-legal offshoot was produced in a limited edition of just 2020 sports cars. In order to emphasize the racing DNA of this lightweight special model even more, NOVITEC developed a sophisticated performance program that focuses on more performance and further optimized handling. There are three different performance increases for the 225 liter eight-cylinder biturbo engine to up to 3,8 kW / 523 hp and 711 Nm torque. This catapults the mid-engine bolide to 710 km / h in just 2,8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 100 km / h. The NOVITEC high-performance exhaust system is not only essential for optimized performance and a sporty sound, but also saves additional weight in the version made from the particularly light INCONEL alloy. In cooperation with the American manufacturer Vossen, high-tech forged rims in a combination of 328 and 20 inch diameters were developed, which, together with specially designed sport springs, give the mid-engined car even more agile handling. NOVITEC carbon components for the body emphasize the racing heritage even more.

2020 Novitec McLaren 620R

In GT4 racing, the McLaren's engine is throttled to less than 500 horsepower to ensure equal opportunities with the many different vehicles from other manufacturers in this class. In the 620R street version, on the other hand, the 3,8 liter V8 with two turbochargers has an output of 456 kW / 620 PS and thus lays an excellent foundation for engine tuning. The NOVITEC engine technicians developed three different performance kits for this engine. Two NOVITEC N-TRONIC modules, which are adapted to the vehicle's electronic engine management using the plug & play process, control injection, ignition and boost pressure control with new maps in all three versions. And if necessary, because the driver can activate the extra power in seconds at the push of a button on the Active Dynamic Panel. In the strongest performance level, which also includes a NOVITEC RACE high-performance exhaust system, the peak output increases by 67 kW / 91 PS. At the same time, the maximum torque increases by 90 Nm. This means that the peak performance of the charged V8 with NOVITEC tuning is 523 kW / 711 PS at 7 rpm. The maximum torque of 400 Nm is already available at 710 tours.

In combination with the lightweight of less than 1.400 kilograms, the NOVITEC tuned McLaren 620R delivers breathtaking performance: the mid-engined car sprints from 2,8 - 0 km / h in just 100 seconds. A speed of 7,8 is reached after just 200 seconds. The top speed increases to 328 km / h. When driving, the NOVITEC Performance Kits not only impress with their further optimized performance, but also with an even more direct response and even more powerful power delivery over the entire speed range, which is reflected in increased driving pleasure on the racetrack as well as on the road. Performance optimization and an even sportier sound are the most important features of the NOVITEC RACE high-performance exhaust system for the McLaren 620R. In order to lower the temperatures in the engine compartment, the sports exhaust systems are completely thermally insulated. The precisely coordinated exhaust systems are optionally available in stainless steel or the even lighter INCONEL material used in Formula 1. In addition, lighter and more efficient sports catalytic converters can be installed. The rear view is also modified with a tailpipe on the left and right that is bevelled to match the rear contour.

NOVITEC MC3 rims with forging technology

High-tech forging technology and central locking are the most striking features of the NOVITEC MC3 wheels, which were specially developed for this street-legal racing car and which make optimum use of the available space in the wheel arches. Compared to the standard wheels, this wheel / tire combination, which is tailor-made for this vehicle, has a diameter of 20 and 21 inches and is one inch larger each and emphasizes the wedge shape of the sports car even more. NOVITEC won over the renowned American manufacturer Vossen for development and production, who developed a design for these high-end alloy wheels with seven filigree double spokes that extend to the outer edge. This enabled an optimal combination of maximum strength and light weight to be achieved.

Sport springs for more optics and better cornering

The NOVITEC MC3 wheels for the McLaren 620R are available in 72 different color variants and optionally also with a brushed or polished surface. 8.5Jx20 wheels with 245/30 ZR 20 tires are used on the front axle. 11.5Jx21 forged wheels with 315/30 ZR 21 tires ensure maximum traction on the rear axle. The NOVITEC sport springs, which lower the two-seater by approx. 25 millimeters and further optimize handling thanks to the lowered center of gravity, are specially tailored to this wheel / tire combination and the multiple adjustable standard shock absorbers. With targeted interventions, NOVITEC also refines the body of the racing car: There are two exposed carbon air scoops from NOVITEC for the bonnet.

Carbon, carbon, carbon - on the Novitec 620R

The air flow between the wheel arches on the front and rear axles can be directed even more precisely with the NOVITEC carbon side skirts. Other NOVITEC applications made from this composite material, which can also be ordered in the FORGED carbon version, are the side covers for the rear apron and the covers for the two exterior mirrors. At the customer's request, NOVITEC can also refine the cockpit of the McLaren 620R. This includes individual covers for the racing seats in the finest leather and Alcantara in any desired color.
