XTREME shows the enormous performance and the extraordinary versatility of the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) from Volkswagen. A performance drive on the rear axle and software adjustments to the control unit give the ID. XTREME impressive off-road capabilities. The all-electric all-wheel drive develops a system output of 285 kW/387 hp. This corresponds to a performance increase of around 30 percent compared to the gene donor ID.4 GTX.

System output increases by 65 kW to a total of 285 kW
The system performance of the ID. The team increased XTREME by 65 kW to a total of 285 kW/387 hp by means of a performance drive on the rear axle and software adjustments to the drive control unit. This results in a power plus of almost 30 percent. The new performance drive in the rear delivers 205 kW. In combination with the 80 kW front motor, the ID. Raised rally chassis from motorsport
The unique fully electric off-roader has a 30 mm higher rally chassis from motorsport with 20 mm wide track plates. This means that the ID. XTREME stable, agile and safe even on uneven terrain. The 18-inch wheels with off-road tires are covered flush with 3D-printed wheel arch extensions. They widen the fenders by 50 mm and contribute to the confident off-road appearance of the ID. XTREME at.
The underbody is protected with a particularly robust and completely closed aluminum paneling. It is located at the front of the vehicle directly under the number plate and also protects the 77 kWh high-voltage battery in the middle of the vehicle and the rear end. The modified crash carrier is specially designed for the simple, very stable front protection bar.
Additional LED light bar on the Outdoor Roof Rack
With its honeycomb structure, the eye-catching, extremely resilient Outdoor Roof Rack uses a special design feature of the ID. model family. With the central engraving "Made with passion and friends", the outdoor roof rack tells the story of the creation of this extremely emotional concept vehicle. The front LED light strip of the design roof rack illuminates the streets and the area around the ID in the dark. XTREME as bright as day. In this way, the driver finds his or her way safely through inhospitable terrain or snow-covered landscapes, even in poor visibility, and can recognize obstacles at an early stage.
Xtra presence and Xtra outdoor character
The versatile off-roader also shows its best side on tarmac roads with powerful headlights that are blackened on the inside and lens frames in orange. The panoramic glass roof lets plenty of light into the interior. Another special feature of the ID. XTREME is the high quality and unusual customized finish. In addition to the concept-specific orange and the contrasting matt black color, it repeatedly shows dark, dust-like traces on the light vehicle surfaces. With this rough effect, the ID. XTREME its outdoor character. Typical for the ID. Family are the illuminated Volkswagen emblems in the middle of the light band at the front and rear, which were also used for this study.
Extremely travel-ready interior
In the interior of the ID. XTREME dominates the noble and at the same time robust look of the gray microfibre fabric covers. The front sports seats bear the ID. XTREME logo in the upper area, all decorative seams on the vehicle seats are in the vehicle-specific accent color orange. In the back seat, the center seat was removed in favor of a spacious, foldable hatch. The deepened seat shell offers the occupants a secure hold, even off-road.
The permanently installed center console with armrest ensures maximum travel comfort on the front seats and additional storage space. The airflow and the lower steering wheel bezel are also in the contrasting shade of orange. The fabric covers also extend over the front fittings and the door inlays. The ID typical instrument panel is edged in black.
The boot screen of the display is specifically in the ID. XTREME look and puts the driver in an adventurous mood as soon as he gets in. There is also a vehicle-specific ID. Light and an additional roll indicator. The developers have a special focus on the ID. XTREME put on the sound. The driving noise was developed specifically for the concept vehicle together with Volkswagen Design and is emitted to the outside via a sound generator in the wheelhouse.
Extremely sustainable idea
The concept for the ID. XTREME goes back to a sustainable development process at Volkswagen. The discarded test vehicle of the ID.4 GTX and the associated 77 kWh battery are celebrating in the ID. XTREME her second life. This unusual second-life approach is primarily made possible by the versatile MEB platform from Volkswagen. Its architecture allows a completely new division of space, since the technical components take up relatively little space due to their structure.
The interior becomes a spacious open space with an airy feeling of space and plenty of legroom in the front and rear seating areas. The ID. XTREME in September 2022 at the 2nd International ID.
