Selected Porsche drivers have extensively tested the new 3D printed Bodyform full bucket seat at the “Manthey-Racing Nordschleife Trackdays 20/21”, among others. After this pilot phase, which was completed with valuable customer feedback, the customized seat has recently been available. As part of the new Performance Parts range, it is available from Porsche Tequipment for various Boxster, Cayman and 911 models. From February 2022, it can also be ordered ex works from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and will then be integrated into the Porsche Car Configurator. In addition to the unique look, the new type of center panel is the main innovation: some of the cushion and backrest mirrors come from a 3D printer and can be selected in three different degrees of hardness. This allows the seat to be individually adapted to customer needs.

Innovative manufacturing process and colored design elements
The 3D printed Bodyform full bucket seat is based on the lightweight full bucket seat from Porsche and is created in a sandwich construction: A base support made of expanded polypropylene (EPP) is connected to a breathable comfort layer made of a mix of materials based on polyurethane, which is manufactured using an additive process - i.e. in 3D Printer. The components are clipped together. This innovative joining technique avoids adhesive emissions.
The outer skin of the seat is made of Race-Tex. This non-slip material offers a lot of hold in the seat and, thanks to the special perforation, ensures better passive air conditioning.
Viewing windows allow a view of exposed colored components in a 3D-printed lattice structure and give the full bucket seat an unmistakable design. Initially, customers can choose between black, guards red and racing yellow for these design elements. Further colors will follow in February with arctic gray, deep sea blue and shark blue. In the medium term, Porsche is also planning even more extensive customization - namely, 3D printed bodyform full bucket seats that are adapted to the individual body contour of the individual customer.
