Unique 1960 Porsche 356 Emory Special from John Oates!

One thing is clear, that restoration from a 61 year old classic car is anything but child's play. But that's exactly what John Oates (Rock star of the band Hall & Oates) a few years ago by the team at Emory Motorsports have it carried out. And the result has also been available for two days on Jay Leno's YouTube channel (Jay Leno's Garage / 3,26 million subscribers). Because that's where the 1960sPorsche 356 as Emory Special in a way in new condition. At first glance, there is apparently no difference to the layman at the time of delivery in 1948, apart from the little Emory Motorsports details. But what actually characterizes a 356? The 356 was Porsche's first production car, making it one of the most important in the company's history. Porsche only built 50 of the classics. The 356 impresses with its low weight, with a rear engine and rear drive. And it was precisely these points that brought the 356 many successes in motorsport.

Yes, back to Oates' vehicle. After the renovation, this is definitely no longer the classic one 356B convertible from 1960, which left the Porsche factory over 60 years ago. Emory built a specially made one removable hard topthat for a spectacular Flat top silhouette provides.

And since the donor car had a broken front, Emory also integrated the smoother shape of the 356A in the front and on the windshield frame. There are also the smaller ones bumper of the 356A installed. And inside? And under the trunk lid? There sits the in-house Emory-Rothsport "Outlaw-4" engine. That is a 2,4-liter four-cylinder boxer engine including air cooling, which is based on the more modern boxer engine from the Porsche 964. The engine uses two spark plugs each cylinder, it has one computer controlled ignition and special cylinder heads are also built in. The results are lively + 200 PSthat on only 850 kg meet and a Five-speed manual from a Porsche 911 are paired.

Incidentally, the power reaches the street via one Independent suspension from a 911 with modern, adjustable Koni shock absorbers.
